LET'S TALK HEALTH INFORMATION TO CHILDREN

Day of African Child is marked every June. 16th.

2019 theme "Humanitarian actions; Children's rights first"

In our communities most parents have ignored their responsibilities especially towards "Right to health for children".

Most parents ignore certain conditions because they are common namely malaria, cough, flu, diarrhoea, worm infestation and others. These conditions are common but potentially dangerous and kill if treatment is not sought in time.

Surprisingly all those conditions are preventable with cheap input like sleeping under treated mosquito net, drinking boiled water, deworming and so forth but most important "INFORMATION"

INFORMATION

Empowering someone with basic health information is a preventative tool to vast health conditions. The dissemination of such information is not limited to take place at health facilities but it can be done at communities, schools, workplaces, families and any group.

Most parents are hesitant to talk to their children about certain topics especially sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, mental health which has led to majority of children falling victims to some preventable conditions.

HIV/AIDS ERADICATION STILL A PUZZLE!

On the 3rd. June. 2019, while in the clinic a beautiful young client (16yrs) walked in and as usual procedures were followed and her reason for the visit was to carry out Voluntary HIV/AIDS counselling and testing every step was gone through but unfortunately the result was HIV +. This lady on facial expression seemed unbothered with the result!!
During the counselling session as we were talking of enrolment on ART and positive living, she accepted to adhere to treatment BUT on addition that she was infected intentionally by a man and so she won't die alone she will spread it and infect as many as possible as long as she still alive!!
