Congratulations to our local council chairpersons on completing their training in Trauma-Informed and Healing-Centered Care! These dedicated leaders handle an average of 3-4 cases of domestic violence, child sexual abuse, neglect, and land disputes weekly, and we're proud to support their efforts in providing mental health support and healing-centered care to their communities.

With this training, they're now equipped to:
- Provide emotional support and validation
- Offer practical guidance and coping strategies
- Foster hope and motivation
- Create a safe and comfortable environment for healing

We're grateful for their commitment to serving their communities and look forward to seeing the positive impact they'll make. Join us in congratulating these amazing leaders!

Inspiring Story of Resilience: Kaka Jolly's Journey to Healing

Meet Kaka Jolly, a remarkable woman from Kebison, Rukungiri district, who has turned her passion for helping others into a mission. Despite facing physical challenges, Kaka Jolly took our Trauma Healing Advocacy training and transformed her life. As a wife to a reverend and an elder woman, she's uniquely positioned to support her community.

A Support Circle Born Out of Trauma Healing

Kaka Jolly created a healing support circle for women, particularly wives of clergy, who often suffer in silence. This circle provides a safe space for women to share their pains, support each other, and find healing. The impact is profound, with women reporting improved mental health, increased confidence, and stronger relationships.

A Testament to the Power of Trauma Healing

Kaka Jolly's story showcases the transformative power of trauma healing and community support. Her dedication to empowering others is a beacon of hope in her community. Let's celebrate her inspiring journey and the impact she's making!

The Power of Collective Healing

We've had an incredible response to our Healing Advocacy Trainings! From our last training, We were expecting 70 participants, but 103 showed up, all eager to learn and grow. This experience has reinforced our belief in the power of collective healing, especially for communities impacted by generational trauma.

As we've witnessed individuals let go of anger and rage, we've seen the transformative impact it can have on families, communities, and even the world. By understanding trauma and its effects, we can begin to heal and find peace.

Let's continue to prioritize healing and support one another on this journey towards wholeness.

*Let's heal together!*

🌍 Healing Together Uganda in Kisoro District 🌍

This week, our team traveled to Kisoro District to partner with Bamwe Lend a Hand Initiatives in providing trauma-informed and healing-centered care to the Batwa community.

The Batwa are a marginalized community, often excluded due to their history, nature, and beliefs. During our outreach, we had the privilege of engaging with over 80 women. Sadly, we learned that:

7 in 10 have experienced violence, particularly sexual and physical violence.

9 in 10 face early pregnancies between the ages of 12–16 years.

Many have little or no access to healthcare and basic needs.

At Healing Together Uganda (HTU), our mission is to restore hope, extend compassion, and walk alongside survivors as they heal. Through this partnership, we are committed to uplifting the Batwa community by providing the care and support they so greatly deserve. πŸ’œ

As we continue to reach people in the community, we also celebrate the testimonials we are receiving from those that got our healing services years ago through either radio or in person trainings.

Allow us to share about our recent healing advocacy training with women in Nyakaina rukungiri who have experienced a lot of trauma after they lost their husbands.

Most of these women for the first time they got access to a place where they felt safe with put fear of being judged and had a moment of release which left them feeling more free , light and feeling a sense of calmness.

During our most recent healing advocacy training with men and women(couples), husbands and wives got a moment of realization where they got to fully understand that they have always directly or even indirectly hurt their spouses. So learning that trauma not transformed is transferred opened their minds and they had to forgive themselves for they didn’t know or even never knew how deep trauma can go.

Most of the participants were so happy to have taken this healing advocacy training and having some men openly share their traumas in the room meant a lot. Most men in our culture have been raised to be strong, harsh and were told if they ever get emotional they should never cry because it makes them a disgrace to manhood.

Until every person comes to the realization of how important their mental health is and how being vulnerable can play great role in reclaiming oneself and stand more stronger and resilient for oneself then Healing Together Uganda we will be more than grateful.

Last week,we concluded another healing advocacy training with a team of 70 widowed women in Kyabugashe Rukungiri district southwestern Uganda.

Hearing the survival and overwhelming stories from these women left us so broken but also amazed by the strength and bravery these women wear while hurting within.

Most of them got surprised by the calming and peace of mind they felt for the first time in their lives and also to have a safe space where they freely can be vulnerable with out the fear of being judged or blamed.

In most situations these women are left out which makes them feel invalid and yet they carry alot of huge responsibilities that drain their mental health. They were so mich grateful that healing Together Uganda had to choose them and know they deserve healing. And just like the other groups of widows we have supported with this healing work these too were mentioning how in the last so many years of being widows they never get support from any where until htu came through .

πŸŒΈπŸŒΌπŸ€—A Safe Space for Healing: Stories of 77 widowed Women πŸ«‚πŸ«‚
This week, we concluded a healing advocacy training with 77 widowed women who got HIV from their husbands before they passed away. Left caring for children & grandchildren, these women finally had a safe space πŸ₯Ή to release years of pain, rage, and anger.
In communities where they are seen as misfits and less important , these women have endured trauma ranging from acute to physical, emotional , psychological and complex trauma.

"In 16 years as a widow, I've never seen anyone come out to support widows and see them as worth and valid ." Said a participant.

One Jesca shared how prayer and church had really helped her to numb the pain but had never gotten a moment to release the anger and rage she had for both self and others. She mentioned how heavy her heart had been and was glad that she finally can feel abig heavy stone moved off her shoulders πŸ₯Ή. *Do you want to support women like these in their healing journey?* πŸ’–
