Dr. Arunga's Eye Hospital helmed by it's chairman, Dr Simon Arunga MD PhD organised a meeting of all Ophthalmic Clinical Officers (OCOs) working in the Rwenzori region and Bunyoro region. The meeting was aimed at improving collaboration between eye health care professionals and as preparation for the upcoming world sight day where people suffering from bi-lateral cataracts from all around Uganda will benefit from free cataract surgery

The sun’s rays are more intense in the dry season, especially in open, dusty areas. Risk of photokeratitis, cataract progression, and macular degeneration increases with prolonged UV exposure. Lack of sunglasses or protective headgear worsens the situation.

Dr Tran and our eye specialists have worked together this week to do complex corneal surgeries which otherwise require people to travel out of the country.
