There is much to build on. Over the past two decades, there has been a spate of reports and advocacy documents, declarations and milestone publications in academic journals devoted to the health and development of adolescents. Increasingly, discussions about the post-2105 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) place attention on adolescents in global public health and young people to focus of several recent United Nations initiatives and resolutions. Much progress has been made in generating interest and commitment for adolescent health at global, regional and, increasingly, national levels.
