PEST CONTROL. We offer a comprehensive range of pest prevention /control services to domestic and commercial premises at competitive rates and can design contracts to suit individual requirements. This type of service allows us to call at our premise every 16 weeks, which allows early detection of any pest problems and the appropriate measures to be carried out on site. You would also make some emergency call outs in case you notice a problem arising between routine visits. Pests are categorized into two major groups; vector and vermin's. Vectors are carriers of bacteria, parasites, viruses and other micro organisms that cause or transit diseases. On the other hand, vermin's are animals that disturb man directly or indirectly. Pests include mosquitoes,cockroaches,snakes,bats,rats,ticks and birds. Note that some vectors are considered to be vermin and vise verse. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. Avoid all contact by mouth. Wash hands and skin thoroughly after work. Use gloves for handling in order to avoid bait shyness. Burn or bury all rodent bodies and uneaten baits. In case of poisoning look for medical advice. FUMIGATION SERVICES. Fumigation of produce like maize,beans,malt,rice,coffee,hides etc involves the use of fumigation sheets, fumigation tablets[phostoxin] and sand sacs. Depending on the tonnage of the produce concerned, fumigants are placed in double/single doses in the fumigation envelopes and placed strategically between the sacs in the sacs of the produce
Fumigation sheets are then spread all over the sacs and sealed all around with the use of the sand sacs such that oxygen is barred from entry. The fumigation then goes through all the produce and with the heat-generated[approx 37 degrees centigrade] kills all the bugs. Regular inspections are done for at least four days after which the sheets can be revolved. The premises can then be reopened and after clearance of the dead insects and removing the used fumigation bags normal business can resume. RESEARCHES AND PUBLIC HEALTH CONSULTANCY. Our researchers are directed as providing evidence based solutions to vector-borne disease and pest control. We also, when funding permits, engage in testing new technologies [using bio-assay] in the area of vectors and vector borne diseases control prior to conducting indoor residual spraying(IRS). Further more we provide consultancy/technical services in various areas of pest and vector-borne disease control.
