Action for Community Driven Development (ACODDEV) is a Non Governmental Community Based Organization established in 2001 and legally registered in 2002 to operate in Mpigi District located in Central Uganda. The district lies in the central region, bordering Butambala District in the West and North west, Kalungu District in the Southwest ,Kalangala (Lake Victoria) in the South,Wakiso District in the East and North east and Mityana in the north. According to the National Population Census projection (2012), the district has a population of 215,500 people with annual growth rate of 1.4%. The economy is largely subsistence agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing, small-scale industry and trade. The district is divided into 1 county (mawokota) ,1 town council and 6 sub-counties, each with elected administrative officials. The district has two health subdistricts,one hospital,one HCIV ,18 HCIIIs, and 12 HCIIs. The district (2006) statistics further indicate that literacy for ten years and above is 53.3%. The predominant ethnic group is Baganda, with smaller communities of Basoga, Bakiga, Banyankole and Banyarwanda.
