Harbor Regional Health Prompt Care will be closed on Wednesday, March 18, Wednesday, March 25, and Wednesday, April 22 as our team completes required training for our new electronic medical records system, Meditech Expanse.

This training is an important part of preparing for a more connected, modern care experience across Harbor Regional Health. In the long run, the new system will help improve coordination between care settings, reduce duplicate information, and support a smoother experience for patients.

We know temporary closures can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your understanding as we take this important step forward.

Thank you for your patience as we continue working to improve the way we serve our community.

One Record. All of HRH.

We are excited to announce that on May 1st, Harbor Regional Health is launching a new, unified medical records system: MEDITECH Expanse.

This transition connects Community Hospital with all of our clinics, specialists, and services into one seamless platform. By moving to this single system, your care team will have a real-time, 360-degree view of your health history no matter where you see us. This means better communication between your providers and a more coordinated experience for you.

Accessing Your Records
With this launch, you will have digital access to your records through the MEDITECH MHealth app. You will be able to view your records immediately; additional features, such as messaging your care team and managing appointments, are planned for late 2026 or 2027.

Much more to come about this exciting advance in patient care!

Please Join Us in Celebrating Bill Karlik, Diagnostic Imaging our 2025 Lighting the Way Legend!

Each year, Harbor Regional Health recognizes the person who most inspires the rest of us. From the Beacon Award winners who have gone above and beyond in their service to our patients and the organization, we select one individual to receive the Lighting the Way Legend award.

CEO Tom Jensen captures the significance of this selection perfectly: “The Lighting the Way Legend represents the highest level of recognition at Harbor Regional Health. It honors individuals whose character, leadership, and commitment shape our culture and set the standard for how we care for one another and for our patients. Bill Karlik is a powerful example of what this honor represents.”

Bill’s journey at Harbor Regional Health began in 2006, following a courageous mid-career transition in his 40s. Since then, he has become what his Director, Michael Puttkammer, describes as "the pillar of our department family." Whether he is serving as a dedicated "O.R. Warrior" during complex surgical cases or stepping in to resolve late-night staffing emergencies, Bill operates with a calm, patient-focused approach that has earned the absolute trust of his colleagues and leadership alike.

His supervisor, Paige Mellon-Jackson, shared a heartfelt reflection on the man behind the work, noting:
"Bill is the very definition of dependable. He somehow brings both competence and calm into the room, usually with a tan, a big smile, and a coffee cup permanently in hand. Whether it’s lifting a patient or covering a weekend shift, Bill is already stepping up before you even finish asking. He’s a wonderful Lead Tech who leads by example, and we all benefit from his presence more than we probably say out loud."

No matter the pressures, Bill has remained the "calm rock" who never wavers. At the heart of our organization is our mission to Heal, Comfort, and Serve Everyone with Dignity and Compassion. Bill does not just follow this mission; he lives it. From his phenomenal bedside manner to his willingness to work extra shifts to ensure our patients remain cared for, Bill represents the very best of who we are.

His team’s flood of Beacon Award nominations was driven by a deeper sentiment: the desire to see a man who has given so much to this hospital recognized for his immense impact before he moves toward a well-deserved retirement.

As we celebrate Bill’s legacy, we also want to express our profound respect for the 2025 nominees who stood alongside him. Each of these professionals has found their own way to lead and inspire throughout the year. We are a stronger organization because of their dedication. To be a Beacon Award winner is a significant achievement in its own right, so let continue honoring their achievements:
• Stephanie Lakner, RN (Surgical Services)
• Jane Eaton (Nuclear Medicine)
• Courtney Nelson (Nutrition)
• Ashley Black, RN (Med/Surg)
• Molly McMillan (Volunteer Services)
• Faith Matthews, RN (Med/Surg)
• Vicky Lewis, NA-C (Med/Surg)
• Joanie Sampson, RN (Med/Surg)

Please join us in congratulating Bill on this well-deserved recognition and thanking him for the many ways he continues to light the way for our patients, our teams, and our organization. Congratulations on this Legend!

Harbor Regional Health is pleased to welcome Kyle Pauley as the newest member of its Board of Commissioners, representing District 2, which includes Westport, Grayland, and Cosmopolis.

Pauley was elected to the position in November and sworn in by Grays Harbor County on December 29, 2025. His term officially began January 1, 2026.
A lifelong Grays Harbor resident, Pauley brings more than two decades of experience in journalism, public service, and community leadership to the Board. His background includes serving as Mayor of Cosmopolis, Cosmopolis City Councilmember, and Grays Harbor County Elections Administrator, as well as a long career in local radio and media. He currently serves as Executive Director of The Arc of Grays Harbor, supporting individuals and families navigating intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“As someone who has followed our community hospital for much of my life, both personally and professionally, I have seen firsthand how vital it is to the people of Grays Harbor,” Pauley said. “I am honored to serve on the Board and contribute to the thoughtful oversight that ensures Harbor Regional Health continues to meet the needs of our community.”

Pauley has been assigned to the Board’s Quality Committee and Foundation Committee, where he will support oversight of patient care, safety, and philanthropic efforts that strengthen access to local healthcare services.
Harbor Regional Health CEO Tom Jensen welcomed Pauley to the Board and emphasized the value of his experience and community perspective.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Commissioner Pauley,” Jensen said. “Kyle brings a deep understanding of our community, strong governance experience, and a genuine commitment to public service. Please Join Us in Celebrating the First Baby of 2026, Suigeneris!
The new year began with a joyful milestone at Harbor Regional Health as the first baby of 2026 arrived on January 1st at 8:34 a.m.

Proud parents Michelle Hobbs and Mario Garcia welcomed a healthy baby boy named Suigeneris into the world. He weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 19 inches long at birth, marking a memorable start to the year for both the family and the Harbor Regional Health Family Birth Center team.

For Michelle and Mario, choosing where to deliver was an easy decision. Although they live in Bremerton, more than 100 miles away, they made the trip to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital to remain under the care of Nick Hallak, MD, a physician they trust and value. Dr. Hallak practices with HRH OB/GYN and Family Medicine in Hoquiam.

“The experience was wonderful, I had the best time here,” Michelle shared. “The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.”

For the Family Birth Center team, the arrival of the first baby of the year is a moment filled with excitement and anticipation.

“This is one of our favorite times of the year,” said Lisha Schnoor, MSN, RNC-OB, Family Birth Center Director. “There’s always so much excitement leading up to that first birth, wondering when it will happen and who it will be. Welcoming the first baby of the year is a special tradition for our team, and it’s a wonderful way to begin the year focused on new life, family, and the care we’re so proud to provide.”

In celebration of the milestone, Suigeneris and his family were presented with a gift basket made possible through generous community support. Harbor Regional Health extends its sincere thanks to Aberdeen Walmart for donating items for the basket, as well as to John Eiland, DO, who works closely with Dr. Hallak, for his generous contribution.

Harbor Regional Health is honored to share in this special moment with Michelle, Mario, and baby Suigeneris, and congratulates them on the newest addition to their family as they begin the year together.
