Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck in “fight-or-flight?” Your body might just need a reset - starting with your vagus nerve.
God designed our bodies with built-in systems for both protection & peace. One of those systems, the vagus nerve, helps us move from stress & fear into a place of calm & restoration.
But in a fast-paced, stressful world, it’s easy for our bodies to stay stuck in survival mode.
The good news? We can gently guide our bodies back toward peace using simple practices:
- Slow, steady breathing (especially long exhales)
- Humming or singing worship songs
- Quiet moments of stillness & prayer
- Gentle movement, stretching, or time outdoors
- Even something as simple as splashing cold water on your face.
These practices help calm the body - which can open space for the heart & mind to reconnect with truth.
