76 year old. Catastrophic failed total ankle replacement due to infection. Was offered amputation and attempted limb salvage.

Step one remove failed implant and eliminate infection with antibiotics and antibiotic spacer.

Step two ankle fusion with custom cage implant.

Two years out.

75 year old male been told for 10 years he has “bad ankle”. Numerous injections did not help. Pateint quit golfing because of the pain.

After being referred - X-rays showed ankle is in fine shape, but the joint below the ankle, called the subtalar joint was very arthritic. The correct joint was treated and the patient is now back on the course.
