Over the weekend, Earthside welcomed our final little baby before going on maternity leave for the summer.

This little guy wanted to take his time, showing the need for a good support team during labor and birth.

Both mom and dad prepared incredibly well and built a strong support team. They took weeks of birth classes to get ready, and dad was an amazing rock by her side. They were also supported by their doula, Earthside’s lovely birth assistants, and their midwife, all of whom helped support her incredible strength throughout the process.

When he finally decided to arrive, he came via a beautiful water birth, and mom caught him herself for all those well-deserved snuggles.

Planning a home birth with a licensed midwife doesn't mean that nothing ever goes wrong. What it means is that if something goes wrong your team is trained and equipped to handle the complications 💪 OR transfer you to a higher level of care when needed.

Home birth stats:
-Most complications are managed right in the home setting. This is what your midwife and team are trained for.
- Your midwife brings all the equipment to monitor you and baby throughout labor and the immediate postpartum.
-Your midwife carries medications and herbs for bleeding, IVs and fluids, antibiotics, and oxygen for use when needed.
- Only about 2% of experienced mothers transfer to a higher level of care.
-About 10-15%of first time moms transfer. Usually for a long labor and pain relief.
