🌟 Children’s Church Recap 🌟

This week, our lesson focused on idolatry. We often think of the golden calf in Exodus, but idolatry isn’t just about statues. It’s when we love or value anything more than God.

After the kingdom divided, King Jeroboam feared losing his people, so he set up two golden calves for Israel to worship. This broke God’s law, and sadly, Jeroboam and the kings who followed him (Nadab and Baasha) led Israel further into sin. Each of these kings faced God’s judgment for turning the people’s hearts away from Him.

We reminded the kids that, like Israel’s kings, we are all tempted to put things above God. But the good news is that Jesus came to rescue us! Through His death and resurrection, He paid for our sin. Even the sin of idolatry and brings us back to God. 🙌

đź’¬ Family Discussion Question:
What are some things in life that can become “idols” if we love them more than God? How can we keep Jesus first in our hearts?

🌟 Children’s Church Recap 🌟

On Sunday, our lesson was about King Rehoboam (1 Kings 12). After Solomon died, Rehoboam became king. The people asked him to lighten their load, and he had the chance to show kindness and servant leadership. The elders gave him wise advice—but he ignored it and chose to listen to his friends instead. Sadly, his prideful decision caused the kingdom to be divided.

We talked with the kids about how true leadership is not about power, but about serving others. Rehoboam failed, but Jesus gives us the perfect example. He came not to be served, but to serve—and “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Our prayer is that the children will learn to listen to godly wisdom and follow Jesus, the one true King who leads with love and humility. May they grow to be leaders who serve others, just as Christ has served us.

đź’¬ Family Discussion Question:
When is a time you listened to someone’s wise advice and it helped you? Or a time you didn’t listen and wished you had?

✨ **Sunday Kids Recap** ✨

This week our kids learned about King Solomon and the gift of wisdom God gave him. In Proverbs, Solomon reminds us of this powerful truth: *“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge”* (Proverbs 1:7).

Fearing the Lord doesn’t mean being afraid—it means honoring Him, trusting Him fully, and living in obedience to His ways. Solomon discovered that real wisdom isn’t found in our own strength or understanding, but in a relationship with God.

The Proverbs also give us everyday guidance—choosing peace over conflict, resisting peer pressure, treating others fairly—but all of it points back to this: wisdom begins with following God and trusting Him above everything else. And wisdom isn’t just advice—it’s a Person, Jesus. When we trust Him, we find true life and salvation.

💡 This week, take time to talk with your kids about what it looks like to follow God’s wisdom in their daily choices—at school, with friends, and at home. And hold on to His promise: *“If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God… and it will be given”* (James 1:5).

📣 Exciting News for Our Kids Ministry! 🎉

Starting this fall, we’re launching a brand new curriculum for all age groups that will help us teach the gospel more intentionally and effectively. 🙌 And to better serve our kids, we’re splitting our 1st–5th grade class into two separate classes so we can meet them right where they are and make the gospel come alive at their age level.

If you’ve ever felt a tug on your heart to pour into the next generation, this is the perfect time to jump in! 💛 Our next Volunteer Training is happening in August, and we’d love to have you join us.

📅 Interested in sharing the gospel with our kids on Sunday mornings? Comment below or reach out to sign up—we’d love to walk alongside you as you serve! We will be hosting a volunteer training August 17th to make sure all our volunteers are equipped and feel confident teaching our kids. We do all the hard work so you can just have fun!

✨ And if you’ve been feeling a little disconnected from church life lately, here’s a gentle encouragement: One of the best ways to get plugged in and find real community is to start serving somewhere. When you serve, you grow—and you’ll be amazed at how God uses it to connect you more deeply with others and with Him.
