Thanksgiving is one of the best weeks of the year to try a new yoga class, and move your body - come practice with us!

Note: Regular practice builds the gifts of yoga over time: patience, strength, a centered feeling, flexibility, courage, kindness, compassion, self-control- the gifts go on.

Try a simple home practice Wednesday and Thursday while we are closed. You can flow through poses you know with music, sit for silent meditation, or anything in between.

We can step outside and feel the ground beneath our feet.
We can talk to a friend and feel comforted.
We can keep it simple with a gratitude list—grateful for my bones, my organs, my breath.

These small choices don’t always feel life-changing in the moment, but they start to shift how we meet the world. What once felt like a tidal wave begins to feel like a small ripple. Over time, daily short-term practices add up.

How to do the Metta Prayer:

Get comfortable: Sit in a comfortable position, with your eyes closed or gaze softly downward. Take a few deep, slow breaths to settle your mind.

Focus on the heart: Imagine the breath moving through the center of your chest, near your heart.

Start with yourself: Begin by repeating a phrase to yourself, such as, "May I be healthy, may I be safe, may I be happy, may I be free from suffering, may I be at peace." Allow yourself to sink into the intention.

Move to a loved one: Think of a friend and repeat the phrase with them in mind: "May you be healthy, may you be safe...".

Expand to a neutral person: Bring to mind someone you feel neutral about, like an acquaintance or a store clerk, and repeat the prayer for them.

Include a difficult person: When ready, think of someone you have a difficult relationship with. Repeat the phrase, trying to cultivate compassionate feelings, even if it feels challenging. If it's too hard, you can skip this person and return to them later.

Extend to all beings: Finally, repeat the phrases to encompass all beings everywhere—neighbors, people in your city, and the whole world.

Conclude the practice: Allow the feelings of kindness and love to permeate your body and mind.

Mantras are sacred sounds repeated in yoga practice to promote spiritual growth, focus, and inner peace.

When spoken, they carry vibration — energy that moves through the body and mind, helping us tune in to higher states of awareness. Each mantra holds its own intention, from invoking peace to creating strength, love, or surrender.

One of the most well-known mantras is “Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”
Translated as “Peace, peace, peace,” this mantra is an invocation for peace on every level — within ourselves, in our relationships, and throughout the world.

When you repeat Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti on your internal radio, imagine waves of calm moving through you. Feel your body soften, your mind settle, and your heart open. It’s a reminder that peace isn’t something we have to chase — it’s something we can return to with every breath.

✨ Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti ✨

What Are the Niyamas? In yoga philosophy, the niyamas are the personal observances — gentle guidelines for how we care for ourselves on and off the mat. They’re the second limb of the 8 Limbs of Yoga, offering a framework for inner growth and spiritual balance.

The 5 Niyamas:
Saucha – Cleanliness, inside and out
Santosha – Contentment and gratitude
Tapas – Discipline and inner strength
Svadhyaya – Self-study and reflection
Ishvara Pranidhana – Surrender to something greater

Together, these practices invite more mindfulness, simplicity, and joy into daily life.
