Abilene Gives is just two weeks away. Although we haven't been posting daily videos this year like we did last year, we are still active, growing and alive in our community. Our focus on fund raising this year has moved to EVENTS! But we are still excited about this years event. We are planning an upcoming Motorcycle Show, a downtown photo scavenger hunt and then a dove hunt in September for 2026.

This past Sunday, Steps Recovery facilitated TWO church services which were AMAZING! At least two salvations that we know of came out of the services. Beside the numerous prayer chair encounters, we were blessed with 55 written prayer requests between the two services. See the photo above!

Steps Recovery continues to minister to not only those in the Big Country, but also those behind the walls of the prison. Prison ministry is EXPENSIVE. Those going through our programs can't pay for the literature. Your financial support allows us to continue to serve our brothers in white. We are changing men's lives before they re-enter into society and become productive citizens with a love for Jesus.

Today we had our quarterly Re:generation Directional Prison Team meeting. Really exciting the direction Re:generation is headed inside the prison walls! Chuck Adair from Re:generation, updated us on all the possibilities they are working on. Then Fuzzy (Jeff Smith) took us to lunch in the Steps Recovery limo. We had WAY too much fun. He did a great job as our driver. Traci Bishop on our team, created this little video on the way back the the center. She's amazing! Enjoy!

MONDAY MEETING CANCELLED
Due to the icy roads and the weather forecast, we feel it is best we cancel our Monday Night meeting tonight (1/26/26). For those of you working the Groundwork material, please continue working through your day work.
According to the forecast, we will be open on Friday at 6:30pm for scheduled meetings.

More exciting things for Steps!! A TV spot about our Christmas blessing bags!!

A local Abilene ministry is spreading Christmas cheer by delivering 3,000 care packages to inmates at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Robertson Unit.

Well there's always the clean-up after a big event. Fuzzy and I loaded up the zillion blue totes this morning that are used to carry the Christmas Blessing Bags yesterday. Officer Jefferson was our NEW officer in charge during the delivery. She maintained a great attitude all day. 12 hours worth!! She gave all the glory to her coffee!!!! Thank you Officer Jefferson for your leadership and guidance. Girl power!!!

The TEAM from Steps Recovery really shined yesterday delivering 3000 Christmas Blessing Bags. We showed them that they are not forgotten and told them GOD loved them!

We had a special guest. Darrell Morris, the black gentleman, spent years at this unit. He went through Kairos in 2013 and GOD changed his life forever. He received a degree in drug counseling and recently an award from the State for his work with the homeless. He was on a "natural high" all day seeing his old friends and passing out the same bags he received! That's a crazy story that only GOD could write!!! What a great day!!! Thank you to EVERYONE who helped us pull off this project. You are all ROCK STARS!

This morning we loaded all the Christmas Blessing Bags totes onto the 18 wheeler furnished by Dunagin Transport. Thank you to Bo Dunagin and Tom Grogan for handling this portion of the project for us. The men on the unit are SUPER EXCITED about their Christmas this Thursday. We are PUMPED! We have a great team of men from both Steps, Beltway and Kairos ready to hand the offenders their Christmas bags and tell them that GOD LOVES THEM!

What a FANTASTIC job our Christmas Blessing bag team did this morning! We had a little over 50 people show up to help. We literally went from product on the pallets, still in their boxes, to completing 2997 sacks ready for the 18 wheeler on Monday in just a little over TWO HOURS!!!!!!!!!!! Insane!!! Love and Care's CarePack system is a game changer. They helped us eliminate the cardboard boxes and paper sacks completely. Everyone had great time and their was real joy in the air.

Thank you again Love and Care Ministries for partnering up with Steps to create a stress free event we hope to continue for years to come. Matt Reynolds with Love and Care is fantastic. We can't say enough good things about his leadership and coordination today.

Thank you Beltway Park, Funeral Directors Investments and the others who gave generously that will provide the men on the Robertson TDCJ - French Robertson Unit a day of joy! There's a little JESUS in every bag!!!

We are SUPER EXCITED to announce that we now have a really cool website for Steps Recovery. Fuzzy has always wanted a cool, informative site that showcases ALL we do in the Big Country. We now have it. You can see EVERYTHING we do with recovery and prison ministry. I've never built a website but jumped in head first and learned all I could to produce the site.
