We are exposed to plastic daily. Let’s talk about why it matters.
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles—smaller than 5 millimeters—that form when larger plastics break down over time. Because they’re so small, they easily slip into every part of our environment.
They shed from things we use every day:• Synthetic clothing • Food packaging • Furniture, carpets & curtains • Plastic bottles & containers
These microscopic particles end up in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. They can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and even skin contact, and once inside, they don’t easily break down or leave.
Microplastics often carry chemicals like BPA and phthalates, which can act as endocrine disruptors—meaning they may interfere with hormone balance, increase inflammation, and contribute to long-term health concerns.
The encouraging part? Exposure is something we can reduce. Small, intentional swaps can significantly lower your body’s plastic load.
Simple ways to minimize exposure: • Choose glass for food + water storage • Never heat food in plastic • Skip bottled water when possible • Use wooden, bamboo, or metal utensils • Choose natural fibers (cotton, linen, wool) • Avoid personal care products with microbeads • Bring reusable bags, bottles & containers • Opt for digital receipts whenever possible
You don’t need to be perfect—just more aware. Small changes truly add up.
