🎾 Tennis ball rolling… we love it for working on single leg balance and control of the residual limb inside the socket, but it can get very annoying when the tennis ball wants to run away from you! Try replacing the ball with a foam roll or similarly shaped cylinder (i.e soup can) to permit better control in the forward-backward direction!

It’s that time of year again when students get to learn from the one and only and about osseointegration using the OPRA implant by !

This lecture, Susan taught the students about the BondedMatrix, the biological barrier formed after healing, that makes OPRA stand apart from conventional socket-based prosthetics and rival implant systems.

I love that my students can learn from such a wonderful duo!! THANK YOU BOTH!!!

Had some special visitors in the clinic today for a one-time PT assessment focused on gait and prosthetic function!

We were able to identify key areas to work on and set him up with a home program. The plan is for me to now collaborate with his local physical therapist to keep progress moving forward.

This is the second time in the past month I’ve had patients travel nearly 3 hours for an extended session or “boot camp” series of visits. I know access to amputee rehab specialists can be limited, so I’m grateful we can make these arrangements to help bridge that gap and keep people moving toward their goals. 🦾🦿

Day 1! Stay tuned!

Today marked a huge milestone for Tom! He received his transfemoral osseointegrated prosthesis and took his first steps since his surgery last Fall 🦿

This is just the start of his rehabilitation, and we’re confident he’ll do well! Tom is motivated to return to all the things he did before surgery, now with the added mobility and freedom that osseointegration provides.

Thanks to the integrated prosthetic rehabilitation model developed over the past three years by Real Life Prosthetics and Align Rehabilitation, Tom has a dedicated team behind him every step of the way! We’re all proud to be part of his journey!

MIT researchers developed a new type of bionic knee that can help people with above-the-knee amputations walk faster, climb stairs, and avoid obstacles more easily than they could with a traditional prosthesis.
