Castor oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the castor plant. This oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a type of fatty acid believed to contribute to its numerous therapeutic properties. Historically, it has been used in both ancient Egyptian medicine and folk medicine for its purgative and anti-inflammatory effects.

Edgar Casey popularized the use of Castor oil at his Heritage Store Company and it still remains one of the top selling brands.
