💙 Hospice Caregivers: Protect Your Patients’ Wishes — And Yourself 💙

Hospice caregivers have a vital responsibility to ensure that patients’ end-of-life wishes are both honored and legally protected. This includes verifying that essential legal documents are in place, understood, and followed. ✅

Make sure these 3 critical documents are in place, understood, and followed:

📄 Advance Directive – What kind of care does your patient want (or not want) if they can’t speak for themselves?

🧑‍⚖️ Healthcare Power of Attorney – Who is legally allowed to make medical decisions on their behalf?

❌ DNR Order (Do Not Resuscitate) – Has the patient clearly declined life-saving interventions like CPR? Post a copy on the Refrigerator.

➡️ These documents should be in the chart, in the home, and in every care conversation.

Other great documents to have:
*Last Will & Testament
*Durable Power Of Attorney for finances

➡️ "Have these conversations early to understand your loved one’s wishes and who they want to speak for them if they no longer can."
