Chiropractic care is a small part of self-care as the weather changes into Fall. We are finally feeling the cooler weather this week! Here's some of our favorite tips to stay healthy this season.
🌞 1. Support Your Energy and Immunity
Adjust your sleep schedule: Shorter days can make you feel more tired. Aim for consistent bedtimes and 7–9 hours of sleep.
Boost vitamin D: With less sunlight, consider a vitamin D supplement (check with your doctor first) or get outside during daylight hours.
Eat seasonal foods: Incorporate fall produce like sweet potatoes, apples, squash, beets, and dark leafy greens — rich in vitamins, fiber, and grounding energy.
🍲 2. Nourish and Hydrate
Warm foods & drinks: Soups, stews, and herbal teas (ginger, chamomile, cinnamon) help balance the body as temperatures drop.
Stay hydrated: Cooler weather can trick you into drinking less water. Aim for 6–8 glasses a day, or enjoy warm water with lemon.
💪 3. Move with the Season
Adapt your workouts: Swap summer outdoor activities for cozy alternatives — brisk walks, yoga, or pilates.
Get outside: Even short walks in natural light can boost mood and regulate your circadian rhythm.
🧘 4. Care for Your Mind
Practice mindfulness: Try journaling, meditation, or deep breathing to manage seasonal stress.
Create rituals: Light a candle, read a good book, or listen to calming music — small routines can anchor you emotionally.
Stay connected: The cooler months can increase isolation; schedule social time or check in with loved ones regularly.
🕯️ 5. Prepare for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
Use light therapy: A daylight lamp can mimic sunlight and help regulate mood.
Prioritize joy: Engage in creative hobbies, laughter, and gratitude practices to lift your spirits.
🧤 6. Care for Your Body
Moisturize more often: Dry air can irritate skin; switch to richer lotions or oils.
Layer wisely: Keep warm but avoid overheating — breathable fabrics work best.
Support your immune system: Handwashing, balanced nutrition, and rest go a long way during cold and flu season.
And lastly, get adjusted on a regular maintenance schedule!
