Sometimes it feels silly to replicate my phone calendar onto a whiteboard calendar, but it's something that has been very helpful for time and task management.
📱
My phone notifications (that also buzz my connected watch) help me initiate a task, but it's also very easy to get distracted by other phone notifications.
📱
Since my phone is always with me, I can easily shift tasks and appointments in my calendar as needed to accommodate client needs for schedule changes.
🗓️
The whiteboard provides a quick reference to what I need to get done without having to use my phone. This bypasses the chance that I might get get distracted by other notifications or social media. However
🗓️
I love getting to physically check-off the daily task items! Having that action and seeing the collection of check marks at the end of the week help me feel accomplished.

What are some things you do to help you move through your day to day?

You've heard of the neurospicy habit of having 3 drinks all at once, but what about 3 pairs of shoes all at once?? 👟 One for cardio, one for strength training, and one for comfort/transition to and from the gym!
Shoes for cardio have thick soles and an abundance of padding. This helps absorb the impact that comes with running or walking to reduce stress taken on by the ankles, knees, hips, and back. They also typically have a curvy shape at the toe and heel to promote the rolling motion of the foot as it transitions through heel-ball-toe in a natural walking or running movement. You can see these elements in the shoe in the second photo, or leftmost shoes in the first photo.
Shoes for strength training have flat soles with little to no padding, and often a slight lift in the heel. This is to prioritize keeping the foot flat and from shifting within the shoe, providing better stability. A stable foot promotes stable ankles, knees, and hips, making it easier to maintain a solid base for heavy lifting. Even bodyweight exercises benefit from sturdy footing! You can see these elements in the shoe in the third photo or middle shoe in the first photo.
Shoes for transition to and from the gym aren't always necessary, but can definitely be a courtesy to your workout space! With winter weather on its way out, we aren't likely to track salt into the gym anymore, but spring muddy season is upon us and it can do your gym a kidness to keep outdoor shoes in the locker room or a shoe cubby. I personally am a fan of flip flops (and look how sparkly the straps are!) but this can be any shoe that makes you happy, is good for outdoor weather, and fits your foot's needs! 🩴
"Always wear good shoes and they will take you to good places."

"Weight felt really fantastic. I feel strong today :3"
That was my immediate takeaway from my personal workout today, so I wanted to share it!! My hope is that everyone can finish their workouts and feel amazing both physically and emotionally. It might not happen every time, so take stock with yourself and make changes to your plan so you can feel challenged and energized after exercise. 💪⭐😁
Lmk if you need help with that. It's what I do for a living!!
Pictured is the bulk of what I did: plank, stability ball leg curls, lat pull down, split squat, back squat, and curl to press. Exercises were done in pairs and I took a ~40sec rest between sets (got distracted by duolingo, 😅). Not pictured is the cardio warm up and mobility movements for my back, hips, and shoulders that I did prior to the aforementioned exercises.

Very excited to celebrate my 10 year anniversary as a certified personal trainer!! :D
I find myself struggling to summarize the past decade of my life. There are just so many memories with clients, so many stories that make me laugh and feel happy and proud.
Can any of my clients, current or former, share your favorite memory from us working together?

Look how cool these ladies are!! I haven't been posting much, but everyone was doing such a great job with these exercises that I couldn't help wanting to brag about them. c: It was everyone's first time doing suspension rows, and they all quickly learned the movement! Also, I could see everyone's earnest efforts in the focus on depth for the push-ups.

These are a few workout selfies from my selfie folder (learn more abt that on my personal page). The first two are images from when I was still at my former workplace in 2021. It was before I began this business and I was in the midst of trying to manage high-anxiety that came from my interactions with people while working at a gym through the pandemic. I look so empty. I was just going through the motions. I was doing the bare minimum of what I needed in order to serve my clients, my workplace, and myself. I'm literally tearing up looking at the first two and I can't even recall anything specific about those workouts.
The second two images are more recent workout selfies from this past year. Looking at these images makes me so happy. I'm making silly faces, my eyes don't look dead, and I remember how I felt doing those workouts. In the picture with my tongue out, I had been listening to one of the theme songs for Ace of the Diamond, fondly referred to as "baseball anime!!" and I had So Much FUN during that workout. :D In the picture with my hair all crazy, I had been doing side planks and thought it was so funny the way my hair fell when I was doing them.
It's wild to me how much of a difference two years can make. While my selfie folder is typically for images that make me feel good about myself, I'm keeping the first two there anyway. They will serve as a reminder for why I left that place and the good it has done me. I can see how much I've changed in the past two years. And I can visualize how much I can still change and grow in years to come.

How do I keep my bell peppers from going bad??
🌶️
Step 1: Store uncut peppers in a loose bag in the crisper drawer of your fridge. This will keep them firm and un-wrinkled longer. I usually just use a plastic grocery bag.
🌶️
Step 2: Cut only what you're going to use for that day. I like to start with cutting the butt. This leaves your options open for how to use the rest of the pepper; it can be cut into rings, strips, diced, or minced.
🌶️
Step 3: Use a paper towel to dry the pepper juice from the cut edge.
🌶️
Step 4: Keeping the paper towel on the leftover pepper, place it into a sealable container like a zip-lock bag or this super cute bell-pepper shaped container!! If placing in a bag, do not squeeze the air out of it! Our pepper needs to be a breathe, and the paper towel will soak up ambient moisture so it doesn't rot too quickly, but also keeps it from drying out.
🌶️
Step 5: Place your contained pepper in the crisper drawer of your fridge.
This won't make your pepper last forever, but you should still be able to use it throughout the week for whatever dish you want bell peppers for. It can be beneficial to change out the paper towel every couple days, esp if the pepper isn't being cut from daily.
An uncut pepper can last in its bag in the fridge for about a week or two, depending on what state of freshness it was purchased at.
Remember!! The best way to keep veggies from going bad is to have a plan for when to use them. If you don't have something specific you're buying that vegetable for, then it will most likely go unused and your $$ ends up in the trashcan.
What's your favorite dish to add bell peppers to??

Thank you to everyone that joined me at my two new panels in the Level Up series, Cardio yesterday and Nutrition today!! Again, I'm super slow about capturing photos, so these don't show the total number of attendees. I'm so glad to be able to share this content with everyone!! I got some great feedback on the panels and already have plans on how to improve the content and flow of the presentation. I'm looking forward to bringing this panel series to future cons, so be on the lookout!!
