LOVE this quote!!

Sometimes it can be hard for our kids to make friends, keep friends, be a friend, understand friendship, and more! If you child - tween - teen struggles with these skills we would love to help!

We have many Groups this summer that will be exploring friendships through a variety of activities such as: play, learning about how to be a "good friend", working on how do we learn about others, understanding others smarts, working on our conversation skills, creating and using Friend Files, understanding the Friendship Pyramid and more. Each group utilizes the SCERTS® Model (by Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin, & Laurent) and then combines elements of other models of therapy that collaborate well together such as elements from More Than Words and It Takes Two to Talk (The Hanen Center®), elements of Social Thinking® (by Michelle Garcia Winner), and more.

If you want to learn more about our groups or how to register DM us, email us at amanda@kidspeakdallas.com or text us 214-636-0871.

💜 Thoughtful Thursday💜

This week we’re our topic is — dyslexia.

Dyslexia is a brain-based learning difference that affects reading, particularly skills such as word recognition, decoding, and spelling.

Most importantly, dyslexia is not related to intelligence, effort, or motivation — it reflects differences in how the brain processes written language.

"“Good job!!”
💜This is one of the first strategies that Ms. Amanda teaches new therapists....don’t use “good job” as a praise. As there are so many other amazing ways to praise our kids that are more meaningful. These praises can help build on language, self awareness, self confidence, build a connection and much more.
💚This visual describes a few of our favorites! We especially love using an action and smarts.
💜When we use an action such as “Great sitting!”, “Good listening!”, “Great sharing!”, “Nice hi five!” & more.....it allows our kids to now work on understanding the action word, other descriptor words, and/or understanding what they actual did that was “good” which increases their self confidence and helps them be successful the next time as well.
💚When we praise using smarts (from Social Thinking) such as “Great listening smarts”, “I like your painting smarts”, “Good turn taking smarts” and more.....it again praises them for something specific while working on their self-awareness and building their self confidence!
💜We hope that this visual helps you at home/school/therapy.
If you have questions on different ways to praise your kids while focusing on the language and social emotional skills please DM or email us....we would love to help!
