Intentionally concealing your feelings and distracting yourself to the point of mental overstimulation may make you emotionally numb for a short period of time. But when your emotions come back, it's the worst.

I know the feeling that you're no longer in your body, and yet you feel so self-aware that it overpowers you.

What you need are healthy coping mechanisms to help you face your past, accept what happened, and move forward in life with joy and peace in your heart.

My program, "30-Day Journey Within," is created specifically for trauma survivors so they can begin their personal transformation pathway towards their healing journey.

If you're leading a busy life with a hectic schedule and mismanaged lifestyle, regular meditation can bring you a much-needed state of peace and a tranquil mind.

But I understand that sitting in silence, even for a few minutes, can be challenging when you have racing thoughts.

This is where the Inner Sanctum Personal Development + Soul Growth program comes in. This meditation certification program is designed to help you kickstart a powerful path to self-realization, presence, and whole-hearted living.

As someone who's had complex trauma, I understand when you say that your past experience is not just a memory because you still feel it. This is what it feels like to be a survivor.

It's like when you put a band-aid on your wound and pull it off harshly. The more you do, the more it hurts. Pain is the same. The more you poke it, the more it hurts.

So, create your own toolbox for healing. Invest in therapy, get psychiatric help, heal your soul, and move your body.

Yes, moving your body is a powerful tool in recovering after a traumatic experience. My program, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), is proven to help those who suffer from relational trauma, and/or emotional, sexual, and physical abuse.

Unlike medications, the benefits of regular meditation are immense. Think of it as your soul’s charger.

The more you spend time with yourself, the more you become present in the now. And when you’re mindful of what’s happening in the present, the more clarity you have to know and sense what’s right or wrong.

And when you have a clear sense of what’s good for you and what’s not, you make better decisions. Better decisions mean a brighter and more peaceful future.

My point is that the benefits of meditation cascade across different parts of your life. Whether you’re suffering from trauma or simply want a more organized life, it can help you in many ways.

My childhood trauma conditioned me to conceal my feelings, and my culture taught me to lie about and hide who I am.

In the past three decades, this was my life - until my 34th birthday came when I realized that I was concealing my truth. And when that sad truth dawned on me, my ability to pretend that I was happy also melted away.

So, I made the decision to start all over again, although that meant leaving my family, marriage, and old self.

At that point, I decided that my life mission was to break through my barriers. As I journeyed within myself, I began to understand, embrace, and nourish all pieces of myself. And I used a combination of yoga, meditation, journaling, and dancing to build myself all over again -- this process lasted two years, and it was not an easy feat.

Although it was a complex journey, I assure you that recovering from past trauma is possible. I have done it (I still am to this day), and so can you.

Send me a message if you want to learn how I can help you through your healing journey. I'd love to hear your story.

“I have tremendous anxiety and find myself ruminating often. Working with Priya, I learned many tools to address this challenge.

We practiced mindfulness, thought mapping, and body embodiment. In addition, she became my accountability partner to practice consistency in using the tools.

Now, I can use these practices weekly and often daily to manage my well-being."

Song lyrics allow me to express what I verbally cannot. Both the music and words are powerful tools that allow me to cry, ponder on the deepest parts of my thoughts, and give me hope.

One of the songs that helped me get through a challenging time in my life is Wash It Away by Nahko and Medicine for the People. The lyrics that struck me the most are "teach me to let go of all of my pain,” and ”wash us clean of our pain and suffering,” and “give us strength for our new beginnings."

How about you?

Is there a song that helped you get through tough times in your life?

Comment it below, and I'd love to give it a listen.

My body image issues are based on things that were said to me, feelings of rejection, and disconnection with myself. But all of those melted away when I entered a Korean spa — yes, a spa!

While I was there, I tried my best to avert my eyes from the n**e women surrounding me. However, in order to enjoy the baths and other amenities, I must get naked. So I did.

No matter how uncomfortable it was, I removed my bikini top and bottoms and looked around. Everywhere, I saw women of different body shapes, ethnicities, and ages so carefully bathing themselves. I thought the view was simply beautiful and inspiring.

I then thought about living in fear because of my body issues. Why would I dwell on those things when I'm free to love myself and my body completely and safely?

Yoga, when regularly practiced, influences many parts of our lives. It fosters inner peace that manifests within the self and the world around us. It also promotes good health and creates harmony mentally, physically, and emotionally.

My reactions used to be black and white.

When something triggers me during a conversation, I'd either lash out to the point of extreme rage or go completely silent. And whenever I'd shut down, I would leave people upset, confused, hurt, or angry.

I understand that my choice to be silent puts people in a difficult situation because it can be perceived as rude, dismissive, or immature, but it wasn't something that I could help.

But with enough time, practice, and positive tools (like journaling and meditation), I'm confident that I will be able to prevent resorting to "silent treatment" whenever faced with a challenging situation.

How about you? What positive ways do you implement to help you deal with stress and problems in life?
