I’m not throwing shade at anyone that works with couples. As much as I love it, I respect anyone willing to work with couples because couples therapy is hard work! But clients don’t always know that couples therapists can operate VERY differently. With we have a map that has been researched and proven effective for creating lasting change in relationships. Because of this, I may ask couples, “how is your relationship today?” to stay in the present moment and focus a session, but I’m not going to ask you about the highs and lows of your week when I know the clock is ticking. I know my direct approach may not be for everyone, but I don’t like to waste time, so once assessment is over, we are jumping in each session to understand the place that is keeping you stuck so you can move towards
