For Immediate Release

On Thursday March 5, 2026, the Adel Police Department was notified of a possible threat at the Adel MS/HS campus. School staff initiated a shelter in place status while the situation was investigated.

The Adel Police Department worked thoroughly to assess the threat. The investigation determined that the threat is non-credible.

School officials have lifted the shelter in place order and normal building operations have resumed.

The Adel Police Department and school officials will continue to investigate the origins of this threat.

An Emergency Parking Ban for Snow Removal will go into effect for the City of Adel starting at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28th. This parking ban will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th.

City Ordinance 69.10
No person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking during any snow removal period. The snow-parking ban shall be in effect during any one of the following times or periods:
-When snow and/or freezing rain (ice) is falling on such street.
-When snow is drifting onto such street.
-The 24-hour period immediately following the end of any such snowfall and/or icing event.
-The 24-hour period immediately following the end of any such drifting of snow.
The penalty for a violation is $25.00. If your vehicle is not moved during the snow-parking ban, it may be towed away at the owner’s expense.
