And so, it is over. Our Residents have found new homes, our staff are scattering to the wind . Many taking a much needed collective breath before seeking other opportunities. The past 2 to 3 months have been have been more than challenging to say the very least. It has been more like working in a war zone with many of our loved ones being the casualties.

At this point, our last reason for working in our building rolled out around 2 pm.

If I might say so, this was the best, caring, team in the business and I can say this because one by one, as the Residents left, they told us this in many different ways. We pray collectively for each one of them and their family members that their new homes will be happy and well cared for.

It touched our hearts that so many showed us so much love these past few weeks. Thanking Lynn Hines and the Wiltermood family for treating us to Flatbread pizza's from the Wine Journal on Tuesday.

And last but not least, Thank You to our friends at St.Croix hospice for the beautiful parade (and dance)of Love, appreciation and encouragement on our last day. You had us in tears and stitches all at the same time. Sharing some photos of our incredible team in our last few days. (Wendy took most of them.)

For me, this has been a 26 year love affair with so very many Residents and Families coming thru my office. We have loved and remember each one and we Thank all for sharing your loved one's with us and allowing us to care for them and you in a very special and fragile times in their life. It has been a fantastic honor and privilege to do so. I was told at the time I was hired all those many years ago that at Adrian Manor, it is always "Residents First". I think most of us throughout the facility adhered to that purpose.

Always,
Liz Chancellor, SSD

I know many of you have been following our page and noting we are not in the best of times right now. This has been the toughest times we have endured but trust me when I tell you that we have seen the best of humanity, the best of our community, the best from our Residents and their families, the best from our vendors and associates and the the absolute best from our employee's.

We have been blessed from many, many of you. Today, the Wine Journal brought us yummy pizza's, from an Anonymous Source. We thank you! We have had many family members send in sandwich tray's, Delicious cinnamon rolls from Byrds Pecan's, Cooler's full of Energy Drinks and delicious donuts from Koehns. Tons of goodies came in during the holidays that made us very, very grateful for all the love. It has all touched us in ways that are very hard to adequately put into words.

A note to our Residents and Family's: It has been our highest honor to care for your most cherished loved one's. They are very well loved by us and WE get much more back from them than we could ever wish for. Always and forever will they remain in our hearts and you will always remain our extended family members.

A simple Thank You seems so inadequate, But, Thank You so very much. Of course we and our very loved residents are ultimately very grateful for all of your many prayers for us. God bless you all and Please God continue to bless Adrian Manor and all facilities who are also experiencing these stressful times.

This is Sheila Wackerman from Adrian Manor. I have to inform you that we have had all but two of our residents test positive. We have moved the two negative residents and blocked off the end of the 100 hall to keep them reverse isolated. We have notified those resident’s families that have been involved in the moving and notified the families of the positive residents. We currently have a total of 5 staff off because of positive tests. Walgreens is definitely going to proceed with the vaccination clinic on January 12th. I will need the consent forms for the vaccination by the 8th . If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

This is Sheila Wackerman from Adrian Manor. I have to inform you that we have had four more residents test positive for COVID and two staff members today. We have notified those resident’s families that have been involved in the moving and notified the families of the positive residents. We have had 4 residents recuperate and have or will be moved back into the general population hall today. All residents are still isolated to their rooms. We will be testing staff on Tuesday and Thursdays, the residents will be retested again Monday. But we will be monitoring all residents closely for signs or symptoms. And if we see any resident starting to show any signs and symptoms we will test them at that time. This extends our isolation time again. We will have to go through at least 2 rounds of testing until we get 2 consecutive rounds with everyone being negative. I also want you to know that we had 3 state surveyors in today to do another Infection Control Survey and we had no deficiencies. They all three encouraged us to keep up the good work, even though we all are frustrated and as one of them stated it seems like we are swimming upstream like a salmon but we are making a difference. I have a great team, they are giving it their all to take care of our residents. Walgreens is definitely going to proceed with the vaccination clinic on January 12th. I will need the consent forms for the vaccination by the 8th . My nurses back in the positive unit are updating the number one emergency contact on record daily. But, if there is a change in condition they will contact the emergency person immediately. I am asking you to forward the information given to you on the daily basis to the other members of the family, so that we are not taking our nurses away from the direct care the residents need. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

This is Sheila Wackerman from Adrian Manor. I have to inform you that we have had ten more residents test positive for COVID and five staff members over this holiday weekend. We have now enlarged our positive unit to include the entire 200 hall. We have notified those resident’s families that have been involved in the moving and notified the families of the positive residents. All residents are still isolated to their rooms. We will be testing staff on Tuesday and Thursdays, the residents will be retested again Wednesday. But we will be monitoring all residents closely for signs or symptoms. And if we see any resident starting to show any signs and symptoms we will test them at that time. This extends our isolation time again. We will have to go through at least 2 rounds of testing until we get 2 consecutive rounds with everyone being negative. I did send out the information on the vaccine and the consent form. The vaccination clinic is scheduled for January 12th, but due to the increase in positive residents may be postponed to a later date. I will keep you informed of any changes. My nurses back in the positive unit are updating the number one emergency contact on record daily. But, if there is a change in condition they will contact the emergency person immediately. I am asking you to forward the information given to you on the daily basis to the other members of the family, so that we are not taking our nurses away from the direct care the residents need.
