Having a baby with a stuffy nose can make sleep tough for little ones and parents too. The American Academy of Pediatrics reminds us that safe sleep always means placing babies on their backs on a firm, flat surface with no pillows or props. To help ease congestion, try saline drops, gentle suction, a cool mist humidifier, or a steam session in the bathroom before bedtime. Staying hydrated also helps. Learn more about helping your baby sleep safely when congested here:

Nasal congestion from colds, flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), or COVID can make it harder for babies to breathe—and sleep at night. Pediatrician and safe sleep expert Dr. Rachel Moon explains why and suggests safe ways to help your baby sleep when they have a stuffy nose.

Measles is highly contagious, and the best method of prevention is vaccination. Live particles of the measles virus can live in the air long after an infected person leaves the room, meaning anyone in crowded spaces can come in contact with the virus.

Ask your pediatrician if you have any questions about the MMR vaccine or measles.
