During adolescence, the limbic system (the brain’s emotional and reward centre) develops earlier and faster than the prefrontal cortex (the part responsible for planning, impulse control and decision-making).

Because of this timing mismatch:
* emotions are strong
* reactions are fast
* regulation is still developing

There is a temporary imbalance between emotional drive and cognitive control. 

👉 Here’s a thought:
You don’t have to calm every surge.
Just be the rock.
Steady parents create steady kids.
