During adolescence, the limbic system (the brain’s emotional and reward centre) develops earlier and faster than the prefrontal cortex (the part responsible for planning, impulse control and decision-making).

Because of this timing mismatch:
* emotions are strong
* reactions are fast
* regulation is still developing

There is a temporary imbalance between emotional drive and cognitive control. 

👉 Here’s a thought:
You don’t have to calm every surge.
Just be the rock.
Steady parents create steady kids.

A lot of people have asked what makes Greg a “therapy dog” and not an “emotional support animal.” I have taken the last few months to train him, learn the differences & ensure he’s the right fit for the tasks I’m expecting of him. His role is to make people smile, to bring joy & to be invited to places where people find comfort in animals. ❤️
