You can’t always choose the song, but you ALWAYS control the volume. 🔊
In psychology, we often discuss the Locus of Control. Life is going to throw “noise” at you—unexpected setbacks, stress at work, or difficult news. These are the songs you didn’t request and can’t always skip.
But here is the clinical breakthrough: You are the DJ of your own internal response. 🎧
While you can’t always stop the external noise, you have the psychological power to turn down the dial on:
• The “Inner Critic” that tells you you aren’t enough.
• The “What Ifs” that fuel anxiety and loop on repeat.
• The “Comparison Trap” that steals your joy.
Mental health isn’t about waiting for the world to get quiet; it’s about mastering the dial on how much power you give to the things you cannot change.
Let’s Interact: If you could “turn down the volume” on ONE thing today to give yourself some peace, what would it be? 👇 Drop it in the comments below. Let’s support each other.
