Mindfulness challenge: Don’t multi task. Do one thing and one thing only!

Multi-tasking can be useful, but not when we never STOP multi-tasking.

Doing just ONE thing and focusing fully on that one thing can be so beneficial to reducing stress and anxiety as well as allowing you to fully appreciate and be mindful of the moment.

You’ll have better focus AND more than likely you’ll be more efficient at whatever it is you are doing.

There will be less mistakes, less distractions, and less burnout.

You might even feel more calm and at peace by slowing it down and doing just the one thing.

Here are some ideas to get you started:
👉🏻 Eat a meal or snack and really PAY ATTENTION to it
👉🏻 Walk from one place to another without going on your phone or rushing
👉🏻 Just SIT for a few minutes without having to busy yourself
👉🏻 Have a conversation without any distractions or other activities so you can be fully present with the other person
👉🏻 Do something creative and focus on just that task
👉🏻 Sit in nature or look out a window for a while and just see what you observe

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
Don’t forget to show gratitude to your moms or people you know who are moms! They have a tough job so it’s important to acknowledge all the work and the love that they put into the world. And for all the moms that feel like they’re failing or not doing good enough, go easy on yourself because everyone around you sees your momma strength and thinks you are a superhero!

Most of our days go by without us really being present. Often times we are simply going through the motions and letting our routines and habits guide us through the day. This is how we get stuck. This is how we avoid change. If we truly want to grow and progress, we must show up in our lives with intention. Every choice we make throughout each day is what makes up our life as a whole. By bringing your awareness to the day to day things that we don’t normally give a second thought to we can start to make a change. Putting intention behind every action means showing up in our life and and taking charge of our direction.

New blog post! So much of our self talk is often critical and full of harsh judgement. Learning to shift to kindness and self-compassion is vital not only towards others but also towards ourselves.

We are our own worst critic. We judge ourselves for being imperfect and we strive for others to think we have no flaws. Our self-talk is often negative and when we try to think positive about ourselves, we have a hard time believing it. The only way to stop tearing ourselves down is to begin practic

We are creatures of habit. We learn from experience but often have difficulties relearning from new experiences. We like to repeat the same pattern of behaviors and learned responses that have gotten us through to where we are now. But sometimes those learned responses are maladaptive and sometimes we would be better off without them. Therapy is a great tool to analyze what we do, why we do it, and whether it’s beneficial to continue doing it. If you don’t understand the maladaptive patterns you have in your life and work to change them, you will be stuck repeating those same harmful behaviors and thought patterns over and over again. This will lead to experiencing the same problems over and over again. The only way to break free of this cycle is to begin the process of self-examination and repair what you no longer wish to repeat.

Life can be hectic sometimes. Our society promotes busyness and discourages stillness. We feel guilty if we aren’t being productive every minute of every day and this often dissuades people from resting when they need it. Sometimes when you are tired, it doesn’t mean you need a nap. Sometimes it means you just need to stop moving so fast. The feeling of being tired is our body’s cue that we need to rest. Instead of ignoring our body’s cue, we need to begin listening. Remember to pause when you are busy. Remember to give yourself the rest when you are exerting a lot of energy throughout your day. Even if you can only manage one day, or one hour, or 10 minutes. It is important to give yourself time to rest. Temporarily put away your to do list to recharge and give your body what it needs without feeling guilty. This is crucial for your wellness.

This week's blog post is all about becoming a more active listener to improve your relationships, better your communication skills, and be more mindful in conversations!

Active listening requires attention, understanding, and mindfulness. Rather than just “hearing” what others are saying, it is important to really listen and understand. This allows for a deeper connection to others and can improve relationships.
