Author/founder of Wellness Within & Faithfully Fit Nation In this time I have seen a major changes in the industry.

Welcome, I have been in the health and fitness industry for nearly 15 yrs. Some good, some not so good. I’ve been working in weight management as a registered dietitian Technician/nutrition specialist for six years, but before that I was a fitness instructor/master trainer for 10 years. I’ve been around people who struggle with their weight and want to lose weight for most of my adult life. On top of all that, I myself am not blessed with the skinny gene. What you see in my health/fitness results is me putting my knowledge to action. I struggle with PCOS and Hypothyroidism. I have a family history of obesity and I’ve always had to work at keeping weight off, and as the years go by I feel like I have had to do more and more to keep my weight in a healthy range. Naturally, once I became a DTR, I gravitated to specialize in weight management. I used my knowledge from years as a fitness instructor to help people eat less and move more. For some clients, it worked, and for many it did not. Most get lost because they lack motivation and need daily support, especially at night, after the kids go to sleep. I personally struggled to find a program or a plan that I could implement to help my clients succeed when it came to losing weight and more importantly, managing to keep it off. Many times, my clients would start off motivated, but eventually drop off because they were not seeing results or life threw them a wrench in their plan. I never tried to implement restrictive principals or hard diet therapies, as I know they are not evidence-based, but at times I wondered if there was something more I could offer to help my clients move toward achieving the results they desperately desired. This is when I starting noticing this growing movement of challenge groups online. So I started watching and learning. I spend time researching and understanding shakeology and how it worked in the system and why it worked in the system. I knew the home programs would offer an option for those who work flexibility to get in 30 mins of exercise and have the flexibility they desired. But Shakeology? REALLY? I needed to learn more if I was going to truly help people, I had to be sure I fully understood. SO, I sat with my Endocrinologist and we talked about it in detail, matter of fact he knew the formulator and said it’s a great supplement and can be used as a meal replacement, its unlike what you can buy in a GNC or the other companies he had seen. After doing more talking to other colleagues whom I trust I decided to try implementing this in my own life. To see if I would feel better, maybe I can get off my prescription medications, have more energy and just feel better. What happened in the next 4-5 months of my health and the health of my husband was unreal! At first we both felt we had more energy, then we noticed improvement in digestion, soon my husband stopped waking up at night with leg cramps and said he has no joint pain. He who suffered from migraines has not had one in over 2 yrs. I came off the higher dose of my medication and both our cholesterol is at an all-time low. I’ve been using my knowledge the past 2 years running private online groups and I haven’t looked back. I agree that the plan isn’t for everyone that I speak with, but for those that struggle with their weight, or need help with meal planning, have high cholesterol, blood pressure, circulatory issues and digestive issues it has been a relief to them, and myself to find something that is working. Maybe this program is right for you? Here is just a sample of things covered in a challenge group
● Platforms of weight management by offering daily support
● Call to Action ( accountability)
● What is ‘too much’? portion size and control?

● Key nutrients and minerals, what is their role.
● What is going on inside our bodies?
● Can you burn the fat away?
● Do diets work? Does willpower really exist?
● Making changes; clean eating; what is the ‘carb message (grains)?
● Eating patterns; eating out; taking in; snacking; buffet eating
● Keys to meal balancing; how much protein is the best to help your patients; does journaling really work? Daily success strategies
● Damage control; beverages do count
● Meal replacements = shake anyone.
● Fortified nutrient dense foods
● Role of exercise without ‘the Biggest Loser’

● How much is too much exercise and what is best for me
● Managing your diabetes
● Research on dairy
● PCOS – what to focus on
● Does mom’s diet matter; maternal weight gain; vitamins & minerals
● Food environment; business & industry – this is multifaceted
● Motivation in weight management; increasing their health beliefs not worry about scale.

Bonjour from the French Polynesian islands!!!
I haven’t been posting very much on this page. But that’s going to change soon. As many of you may have noticed my personal page has become more of a private page. Most of my latest post that I do over there have now become private to friends only.
This is mainly just to set up a boundary. Not personal I just wanted a space to post and share with those who know me personally, who understand my life, who we have a mutual respect, friendship between us who I can be more personal with.
This page will now align more with my Instagram. I will keep the stories between my Instagram and page public. Soon my stories on my personal page will go to friends only.

Again just small shift in creating a boundary between my work and business life and my personal life!

This is my business page Fitness - Nutrition- Health- Wellness- Business opportunities-collaboration-

This transition will happen in coming weeks into the new year. In the meantime, au revoir from paradise💞

BREAST IMPLANTS: myths and Facts! 💗💗

Doctors often hear from women who mistakenly believe that breast implants and mammograms don’t mix. The truth is having breast implants should not prevent you from being able to get a mammogram or breast cancer screening.

There is one downside to having breast implants when it comes to breast imaging. The X-rays used in mammograms cannot go through silicone or saline implants well enough to see the area of breast tissue covered by the implant. But this isn’t a reason to skip mammograms.

In a regular screening mammogram, X-ray pictures of each breast are taken, typically from two different angles. If you have implants, a few more X-rays are taken. This is why it's important to seek out a breast care center or an expert who has a lot of experience doing a mammogram with breast implants.
Skilled mammography technicians work daily with women who have breast implants and are experts at getting the best X-ray views for radiologists to examine.

Myths and facts about mammograms and breast implants
Knowledge is an important, powerful tool in protecting your health. For a successful mammogram, it's important to let your technician know if you have implants before scheduling an appointment.

Here are the facts on some common misconceptions about mammograms and breast implants:

Myth: Implants cover up breast tissue so there’s no point in getting a mammogram.

Fact: Mammography technicians know exactly what to do to get X-rays that show as much breast tissue as possible. They will gently push the implant back against your chest wall and pull your breast tissue forward and over it. These extra X-ray pictures are called implant displacement views and capture better images of the front part of each breast.

Myth: Women with breast implants get too much radiation exposure during mammograms.

Fact: Today’s mammography machines use low radiation doses to take X-rays. If you have breast implants, you will need those extra X-ray pictures, but this should not pose any danger to you.

Myth: Implants can rupture during a mammogram screening.

Fact: It’s rare to experience a rupture during a screening. The chances are even lower when you choose a facility that routinely screens women with implants.

Myth: Women who get implants after mastectomies don’t need mammograms.

Fact: It depends on the type of mastectomy. If both breasts have been removed, then there is no breast tissue to scan. You can skip mammograms. Some women still need screenings.

These include women who have undergone:

* Unilateral mastectomy, where there is one remaining breast to screen.
* Nipple-sparing mastectomy, where the ni***es and a small amount of breast tissue need to be screened.

Myth: Women who have breast implants can’t get 3D mammogram screenings.

Fact: They can but if you're concerned about increased radiation, you should talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of 3D mammography if you have implants.

Three-dimensional (3D) mammography, or breast tomosynthesis, is an advanced type of mammography. It involves taking pictures of thin layers of your breast from different angles to form a 3D image of your breast. These views make it easier to spot abnormalities.

The reason some doctors don’t recommend 3D mammograms for women with breast implants is that X-ray machines use a slightly higher dose of radiation, and you’re already receiving extra radiation exposure due to additional implant displacement pictures.

“Rachel I’m so confused by the seemingly endless promotion of weight-loss strategies and diet plans? OVER IT!!!

As a nutrition professional I find more of clients sharing this frustration asking what I recommend.

While there are many good eating regimens I have found that for most people, most love by the adults and the children is the Mediterranean way of eating.

Chances are you have heard of the Mediterranean diet. If you have a chronic condition like heart disease or high blood pressure, your doctor may even have prescribed it to you. It is often promoted to decrease the risk of heart disease.

The traditional diets of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea differ slightly so there are different versions of the Mediterranean diet.

The Mediterranean diet is a primarily plant-based eating plan that includes daily intake of whole grains, olive oil, fruits, vegetables, beans and other legumes, nuts, herbs, and spices. Other foods like animal proteins are eaten in smaller quantities, with the preferred animal protein being fish and seafood.

It does not specify portion sizes or specific amounts. It is up to the individual to decide exactly how much food to eat at each meal, as this will vary by physical activity and body size.

This is also a LIFESTYLE not a diet.
It’s a way of life so it’s Incorporated into their every day and so it never feels like they are being deprived, rather, just living their life.

This is why most Europeans and middle eastern counties population live longer and healthier than standard American diets or “diet culture”

The “American diet” is horrible and has only increased heart disease, diabetes, obesity and autoimmune issues that lead to debilitating chronic life-threatening problems later in life.

Healthy - 40’s is a vibe. I’ve worked hard to get where I am. Mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually (me and God are still working through some things, right big guy😇)
The process of working hard to live in this healthier state has required me to shed some negative energy, people, and habits. I’ve learned that you DO NOT need to explain your reasons to ANYONE.

40’s it’s a vibe….. it’s a trip. Half the things that I thought mattered in my 20’s and 30’s are nonexistent in my world today!

I learned who and what true friendships look and feel like.

I’ve seen and experienced ugly, hurtful, jealous mean girl crap that would have once broken my spirit, now, it fuels my path.

40’s. It’s a vibe- I love it!!!! ♥️

Kibbeh is the national dish of Lebanon and Syria. The traditional Syrian or Lebanese kibbeh is made from lamb (or beef) and bulgur wheat. It’s is a popular Appetizer or served along tabouli or Lebanon to make it a meal. Kabobie football-shaped Middle Eastern version of the croquette is popular in restaurants. This version here in this pictures is arouse kibee and it’s one of my favorites.
When eating kibbeh you’re presented with two layers of meat; the outer casing is a mix of bulgur and minced meat, and the inner filling is spicy ground meat cooked with onions and pine-nuts seasoned with that notable middle eastern spice.
Making Kibee is a time consuming yet tasty dish, it takes practice to make the kibbeh just right!

But when you get it down it’s out of this world. My cousins in Syria make it the best. This one I am eating my mom froze for me and brought it home…. HEAVENLY!

From my last post on grapeleaves to this beautiful resort nestled in the mountains of Latakia.

Mountain Breeze Resort is a unique site for tourism in Syria because it offers the sea and the mountains with sweeping views on everyside. The resort, which is about 950 meters above sea level, lies in the midst of a natural forest and fascinatingly overlooks a marvelous valley, not to mention the fantastic view of the Mediterranean.
And the infinity pool is BREATHTAKING…..

Syria- like you have NEVER SEEN!!!

I know!! They don’t show you this. SO I WILL. ♥️

It’s pretty remarkable what you see when you actually GO to countries and talk to the people and listen and learn!

FRESH Summer salads are the BEST!!!
not only are they healthy and full of vitamins and minerals that our body can utilize, but it also helps support our cognitive function as many of these essential vitamins and minerals are found in the raw property of so many of the vegetables and fruits we don’t eat as often as we should.

Take summer garden veggies and top with fresh ground pepper and Himalayan salt, olive oil, a squeeze of lemon and some fresh dill and mint, it is a flavor explosion for your taste buds.

The second Picture in this carousel I will go ahead and share the recipe because it does take a little preparation. With the summer salad is literally throw all of your favorite garden vegetables in a bowl and topped with what I shared above. Honestly you guys, take full advantage of the summer garden freshness!

Either one of these salads would be great as a side dish, or topped with your favorite protein. Healthy doesn’t have to be hard, matter-of-fact, healthy isn’t hard, we, as a society just aren’t used to preparing our food at home.
TIME TO CHANGE THAT… ♥️

Chickpea Vegan Omlette
Try these delicious chickpea vegan omlettes. They taste just like eggs! We eat LOTS of eggs in my house and it's hard to always keep a dozen around. So I wanted to have something to switch it up every once in a while. Try them and see if your family notices! Bet they don't!

Servings: 2 (Serving size: 1)

INGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup chickpea flour
• 1/2 cup vegetable broth
• 1/2 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
• 2 tablespoons yeast
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
• 1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 1/3 cup red or white onions, chopped
• 1/4 cup zucchini, chopped
• 1/4 cup yellow squash, cubed

METHOD:
Step 1:
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the chickpea flour, milk, yeast, and condiment powders, until a smooth batter is achieved. Set this aside.
Step 2:
Using the vegetable broth for added moisture and grease, heat up a medium-sized skillet. Add in and sauté the red bell peppers, mushrooms, diced onions, zucchini, and squash. This should be done until the vegetables are well cooked.
Step 3:
Heat up another non-stick skillet to medium-low. Add in the chickpea omlette batter. Using a spatula, check for a golden brown color on the underside of the omlette. When this is achieved, add in half the amount of sautéed veggies in the middle of frying batter.
Step 4:
To fold the omlette, bring both side up to the middle in the shape of an enveloped tube.
Step 5:
The omlette is ready! Garnish with some diced parsley or shredded cheese for added flavor.

Shish Tawook recipe - a popular Syrian/ Lebanese grilled chicken skewers recipe. It's tender juicy chicken marinated in yogurt, lemon and garlic.
It’s perfect on the grill, and goes wonderfully with rice and a light summer salad.

Everyone has a different recipe, with tweaks to our preferences. This is not exact, because if you know anything about Middle Eastern cooking you know that very little of us follow a recipe. It’s a pinch of this, a taste of this, little more of this, add a squeeze here, OK good.

Maybe a little bit more garlic, all right now it’s perfect.

That’s just the way we do it.

Ingredients:

* 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast cut into large chunks
* ½ cup plain whole milk yogurt
* ¼ cup lemon juice
* ¼ cup olive oil
* 6 garlic cloves crushed
* 1 tablespoon tomato paste
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
* ½ teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon ground ginger
* 1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper

nstructions
* In a large bowl, add the ingredients for the marinade (yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, tomato paste, all the seasoning and salt/pepper) and whisk to combine.
* Place the chicken cubes in the same bowl and coat the chicken in the marinade. Cover, and let rest/marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
* Thread the chicken on skewers right before grilling. Add one wedge of onions to each skewer, if desired.
* Grill on medium heat for 5-8 minutes per side.
* Serve with pita bread, lettuce and garlic sauce, if desired.
** great paired over rice and Syrian salad.
