Aitkin, MN ā CARE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting older adults and adults managing disabilities, is pleased to announce the establishment of two new offices to better serve residents throughout Aitkin County.
The Aitkin CARE Office will be located at The Posh Property, 936 2nd Street NW, Aitkin, and the Palisade CARE Office will be located at 306 Main Street, downtown Palisade. The organizationās mailing address will remain PO Box 212, Aitkin, MN, and the phone number will remain 218-927-1383. CAREās new website is scheduled to launch the week of December 15, 2025, and staff will transition into the new locations December 16ā19, 2025.
With this expansion, CARE is hiring for two Professional Caregivers and a Tour Director (Driver) to join its growing team.
Mission and Leadership
CAREās mission is to enhance and promote the independence, dignity, value, and well-being of adults who are older and/or managing disabilities, as well as those who care for them.
The Aitkin CARE Office will be managed by Kim Nutting, and the Palisade CARE Office will be managed by Athena Dunham. Ann Gile and Amy M. Wyant will support operations across both sites.
CARE is grateful to have found new homes through partnerships with Holly & Tony Mindrum and the Palisade City Council.
Programs and Services
CARE offers a comprehensive range of services in Aitkin, McGregor, Hill City and surrounding communities, including:
Professional caregiving services such as homemaking, meal preparation, respite care, transportation, and caregiver support groups.
Strength and Balance classes through SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life), offered in four locations.
Hot meal delivery five days a week to older adults living in Aitkin.
The Aitkin Toenail Clinic, opening in the Posh Salon adjacent to the Aitkin CARE Office, featuring a newly remodeled space with a professional pedicure chair and practitionerās chair.
Partnership with the McGregor School District to manage the GrandFriends Program, connecting 3rd-grade students and older adults through letter writing and in-person events throughout the school year.
Advance Care Planning and End-of-Life Doula Services, helping individuals of all ages prepare and document their care wishes.
The 55+ and Stronger Pop-Up Center in Hill City, hosted once a month, providing educational programming, music, and social connection for older adults.
CARE looks forward to welcoming clients and community members into its two new locations and continuing to expand opportunities for older adults to Age Well and Age Strong.
