December 4, 2025
Aitkin, MN – CARE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting older adults and adults managing disabilities, is pleased to announce the establishment of two new offices to better serve residents throughout Aitkin County.

The Aitkin CARE Office will be located at The Posh Property, 936 2nd Street NW, Aitkin, and the Palisade CARE Office will be located at 306 Main Street, downtown Palisade. The organization’s mailing address will remain PO Box 212, Aitkin, MN, and the phone number will remain 218-927-1383. CARE’s new website is scheduled to launch the week of December 15, 2025, and staff will transition into the new locations December 16–19, 2025.

With this expansion, CARE is hiring for two Professional Caregivers and a Tour Director (Driver) to join its growing team.

Mission and Leadership
CARE’s mission is to enhance and promote the independence, dignity, value, and well-being of adults who are older and/or managing disabilities, as well as those who care for them.

The Aitkin CARE Office will be managed by Kim Nutting, and the Palisade CARE Office will be managed by Athena Dunham. Ann Gile and Amy M. Wyant will support operations across both sites.

CARE is grateful to have found new homes through partnerships with Holly & Tony Mindrum and the Palisade City Council.

Programs and Services
CARE offers a comprehensive range of services in Aitkin, McGregor, Hill City and surrounding communities, including:
Professional caregiving services such as homemaking, meal preparation, respite care, transportation, and caregiver support groups.

Strength and Balance classes through SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life), offered in four locations.

Hot meal delivery five days a week to older adults living in Aitkin.

The Aitkin Toenail Clinic, opening in the Posh Salon adjacent to the Aitkin CARE Office, featuring a newly remodeled space with a professional pedicure chair and practitioner’s chair.

Partnership with the McGregor School District to manage the GrandFriends Program, connecting 3rd-grade students and older adults through letter writing and in-person events throughout the school year.

Advance Care Planning and End-of-Life Doula Services, helping individuals of all ages prepare and document their care wishes.
The 55+ and Stronger Pop-Up Center in Hill City, hosted once a month, providing educational programming, music, and social connection for older adults.

CARE looks forward to welcoming clients and community members into its two new locations and continuing to expand opportunities for older adults to Age Well and Age Strong.

The Aitkin County Health and Human Services Advisory Board will be meeting at the CARE office on Thursday, December 4th beginning at 3 pm. Attendees will be able to tour "Trixie", our 2025 Van with wheelchair ramp, and we're hear from guest speakers, Kory & Holli O'Neil who will be sharing about their new venture the Purpose Driven Recovery Homes LOCATED in the City of AITKIN . Learn about this a PurposeDrivenRecoveryHomes.com. BRING YOUR OWN camping chair as our current seating is limited. This is a public meeting, all are welcome.

The Caregivers Support Group for MCGREGOR will meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month, December 10th from 10 am to 11 am at ANGELS of McGregor. All are welcome! This is in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association, ANGELS and CARE.

CARE Announces Transition of Aitkin Office and Search for New Local Space

AITKIN, MN — Due to circumstances beyond the organization’s control, CARE’s Aitkin office, currently located at 20 Third Street NE in downtown Aitkin, will close the week of December 15th. As a result, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit is seeking two private office spaces in Aitkin so that CARE can continue having an in-person presence in Aitkin.

CARE will move forward with establishing a new satellite office in the Palisade City Hall beginning the week of January 5th, 2026.

The organization is also actively exploring Aitkin-based locations for its popular Toenail Clinic service to ensure appointments remain uninterrupted as the new year begins.

Despite the relocation, CARE’s essential services will continue without interruption. professional caregiving, homemaking, and respite services will be managed remotely, and community spaces will be utilized as needed for the Caregivers Support Group.

ā€œWe remain committed to serving Aitkin County residents with the same level of care, compassion, and professionalism,ā€ said Executive Director Amy M. Wyant. ā€œWhile we navigate this transition, our priority is ensuring that our community experiences no disruption in services.ā€
