From CSS' beginning to today, Terry Dalton has been a passionate supporter of CSS, its clients and mental health in our community and beyond. As chief operating officer from 1988 through 2005, Terry guided CSS in its infancy and facilitated its growth as we added new services and facilities and doubled our workforce. He had such an impact that CSS created the Dalton Fund for Meaningful Activities, which funds opportunities for staff to spend time with clients doing recreational activities. Terry retired as CSS' president and CEO in 2017, but he still generously supports CSS through donations and by spreading the word about CSS. Thank you, Terry, for all you've done - and continue to do!

If you or someone you love needs to find hope, better health and a pathway to success, we are here to help! Visit www.cssbh.org/get-started or call 330-996-9130.

The Summit County Point-In-Time (PIT) Count is an annual effort to count the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

On Tuesday, January 27, Summit County Continuum of Care, as well as volunteers, counted the number of people experiencing homelessness in a single day and distributed items of need.

If they are willing, those encountered answer survey questions to provide data on demographics and needs.

Community Support Services not only lends staff efforts to the annual count, but also uses the data gathered to guide our Homeless Outreach Center, emergency overnight warming center, and other services for the unhoused.

A donation to Community Support Services’ Homeless Outreach fund can help provide free laundry facilities, showers, and coffee at the Homeless Outreach Center (111 E. Voris Street in Akron) and an emergency overnight warming center during periods of extreme cold.

Please visit www.cssbh.org/homeless-outreach to learn how you can support our efforts.

Today's Thankful Thursday shoutout goes to our friends at NAMI Summit County! We value our longstanding partnership with this group and their dedication to supporting those with mental illness and their families while also fighting the stigma of mental illness. We're grateful for the support they've shown our clients through education, their housewarming program, financial support for our holiday bagging event, Rubber Ducks tickets and so much more. We're proud to provide space for their family support group each week, and we love that their offices are in our building! Thank you, NAMI, for all the great work that you do!

Every year, thousands of homeless individuals visit the day room at the CSS homeless outreach center to take showers, do laundry, and rest.

About 700 of them engage with outreach staff to get help with mental health treatment, medical care, and housing options.

You can help those in need by donating to Community Support Services’ Homeless Outreach fund. Donations are gladly accepted to help those using the center and Emergency Overnight Shelters during periods of extreme cold.

Items requested include laundry detergent, personal care items, blankets, bus passes, and flashlights.

Please visit www.cssbh.org/homeless-outreach to learn how you can support our efforts.
