🎄We recently came together at CHC to celebrate the holiday season and reflect on the meaningful work accomplished throughout 2025. The event opened with a heartfelt performance by the AKRON Freedom Recovery CHOIR , offering a powerful reminder of the role music and connection play in the recovery journey.

✨We are grateful to everyone in the community who has placed their trust in us and to all who have supported our mission this year!

Congratulations to this year’s President’s Award winner, Michele Tomer!

A dedicated attorney, community volunteer, and former CHC Board President, Michele guided CHC through major growth, leadership transitions, and our 50th anniversary—all while championing the patients and families we serve.

Thank you, Michele, for your steady leadership, service, and lasting impact on CHC!

There is still time to Adopt!

For many, Christmas is a season of joy—but for some CHC families facing financial hardship, illness, or other challenges, the holidays can bring stress instead of celebration. Our Adopt-a-Family program connects patients actively engaged in care with donors who provide gifts and essentials to brighten their season.

We would love to have your help in making this holiday season brighter. Individuals, families, organizations and businesses “adopt” a CHC family and shop for items from their holiday wish list. Once you sign up, we will provide a detailed list with first names, gender, ages, sizes and gift ideas. Please shop within your budget – no gift is too small. If you don’t like to shop, but still want to help, we take donations of gift cards for stores such as Target, Walmart, Aldi, Save-a-Lot, Giant Eagle and Acme that will be given to families in need.

Wrapped and labeled gifts can be delivered between December 15–19 so we can ensure families receive them before Christmas.

Every voice matters—don’t forget to get out and vote today!

Tomorrow is your last chance to get out and vote YES on Issue 1.

Here are some important things to know about Issue 1:

✔️ Renewal of 2.95 mill levy with a proposed .5 mill increase – the first increase the Board has sought in 18 years.
✔️ Costs the owner of a $100,000 home $6.25 per month – a decrease in the current monthly collection of around $7 per month.
✔️ Represents 77% of the ADM annual operating budget.
✔️ Funds prevention programs and effective treatment for those suffering from addiction and mental illness.
✔️ 93% of the ADM Board funding goes right back into the community.
✔️ Funds a 24/7 crisis hotline, 24/7 walk-in detox, recovery housing, prevention programs, mental health support, and addiction treatment.

🎉 Congratulations to our very own Lauren Munk on receiving the Sister Ignatia Hope Award at County of Summit ADM Board's 2025 Trailblazer Awards!

Lauren has been a driving force in prevention for over 20 years, guiding young people to make healthy, positive choices and inspiring hope through her work. Her leadership with the Y2Y program has helped students support one another and grow into confident, compassionate community leaders who choose to live drug-free. We’re so grateful for her passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to building a brighter future for young people.

"I’m truly honored to have received the Sister Ignatia Hope Award from the Summit County ADM. This recognition is not just a personal milestone, but a reflection of the collaboration, support, and inspiration I’ve received from my colleagues, mentors, and team."

🌟 Thank you to our incredible sponsors, staff, patients, and community members for making Break the Cycle 2025 a success!

The morning began with inspiring words from Judge Jon Oldham, heartfelt remarks from our board members, and a powerful vision for CHC shared by CEO Keith Hochadel. Guests experienced a moving video highlighting the recovery journeys of former and current CHC patients. Judge Joy Malek Oldfield then presented Awards of Courage to those featured in the video. The event closed with words of hope from board member Job Esau Perry, leaving us uplifted and inspired.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us in support of recovery and our mission. Couldn’t make it but still want to make an impact? You can contribute here: https://buff.ly/3RgnVxI
