Welcome to Tune-Up Tuesday. This is Dr. Scott Syracuse. Patients who were involved in an auto accident often ask, ‘Do I need X-rays or imaging?’ And the answer is — not everyone does. Imaging isn’t ordered automatically. It’s used when your history, symptoms, or exam findings suggest we need a closer look to make sure we’re being accurate and safe. Imaging can help identify things like joint changes, alignment issues, or conditions where certain treatments should be modified or avoided altogether. Just as important, imaging helps guide the care plan. When we understand what’s happening beneath the surface, we can make better decisions about how to help you recover. So if imaging is recommended, it’s not about doing more — it’s about doing what’s appropriate for you. If you’ve had questions or concerns about imaging, we’re always happy to explain why it’s recommended or why it may not be necessary. If you have questions or want to see if we can help, call Dr. Scott Syracuse at Syracuse Chiropractic at (716) 542-3530 to schedule an appointment.

Every week in practice brings something new—sometimes insightful, sometimes unexpected, and often a little humorous. Here’s a short reflection on the things you don’t learn in textbooks, but only by listening to patients.

Welcome to Tune-Up Tuesday. This is Dr. Scott Syracuse.

A lot of patients tell me they put off coming in because they weren’t sure what a chiropractic exam actually involves.

So let me walk you through it.

Your first visit starts with a conversation. We talk about what’s going on, when it started, and how it’s affecting your daily life. Nothing is rushed, and you’re always in control of the conversation.

Next, we look at how your body is moving. That may include posture, range of motion, and specific orthopedic or neurological tests — all designed to understand why you’re feeling what you’re feeling.

If imaging is needed, we’ll explain why. And before anything is done, we go over the findings and answer your questions so you know exactly what’s happening and what the plan is.

There are no surprises.

If you’ve been unsure or nervous about getting checked, that’s completely normal. But understanding the process can make that first step a lot easier.

If you have questions or want to see if we can help, call Dr. Scott Syracuse at Syracuse Chiropractic at (716) 542-3530 to schedule an appointment.

Welcome to Tune-Up Tuesday. This is Dr. Scott Syracuse.

Another thing I hear all the time is,
‘I rested for a few days and it felt better… but then the pain came back.’

And that’s very common.

Rest can help calm things down, especially in the short term. But rest by itself doesn’t correct joint problems, movement issues, or the way your body is compensating after an injury.

When joints aren’t moving properly, muscles tighten up to protect the area. Rest may reduce the irritation, but once you return to normal activity, the underlying problem is still there — so the pain returns.

That’s why ongoing or recurring pain is a sign that something more than rest is needed.

If your pain keeps coming back every time you try to get back to normal, that’s your body telling you it needs attention — not just time.

If you have questions or want to see if we can help, call Dr. Scott Syracuse at Syracuse Chiropractic at (716) 542-3530 to schedule an appointment.

Our Story

Here at Syracuse Chiropractic P.C., we are focused on only one thing: our patients’ well being. We believe that everyone should be able to make informed decisions about their health. The more you understand about your body and how it functions, the better equipped you'll be to take care of yourself and achieve your optimal health. Our network of chiropractic professionals, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers empowers you to take charge of your own health and future by educating you about your condition and your various treatment options. This multi-level approach to healthcare is what sets Syracuse Chiropractic P.C. apart from other offices.

Before designing each patient’s specific treatment plan, Dr. Syracuse makes use of conventional diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRIs, and lab work to determine the underlying causes of the patient’s symptoms. After diagnosis, Dr. Syracuse creates a carefully constructed treatment plan that is tailored to each specific patient’s condition and needs. Dr. Syracuse gets to know each case and each patient personally.

Nearly 85% of Dr. Syracuse's practice is focused on work place injuries or auto related accidents. He focuses on these cases because he personally enjoys taking care of the injured and being part of the healing process.
