We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Luisa on her retirement from CGFS after 25 years of service, which we are so thankful for.
Luisa worked as a TAPS consultant in the Early Childhood Program, where she consulted day care centers, teachers, Directors, parents, and caregivers. She assessed needs and ensured children and families had access to the appropriate services. Additionally, Luisa helped prepare the pre-schoolers for school success to minimize the number of school suspensions. She said, "The most rewarding thing about my job was to see the smile in a child’s face and a parent telling me thank you for your help."
Luisa chose this career path after serving as a psychologist in her birth country, where she worked with children who lost their parents in a tragic way. She found great satisfaction in helping and making a difference in the lives of children and their families.
Coming from another country, she had to adapt to a new culture, language, and new career. Through this experience, Luisa said, "I learned the importance of perseverance and self-improvement. I also learned the importance of self-love and emotional resilience."
Luisa said, "I will miss the interactions with my co-workers, laughing at jokes made by them, and celebrating co-workers’ birthdays. I will also miss the program’s supervisors, Shannon, Dawn, and Laura, and their understanding of the team’s needs. I will also miss how my direct supervisor, Laura, provided helpful feedback with well-defined goals, which motivated me and allowed me to perform at my best."
In retirement, Luisa hopes to continue taking care of her family's alpaca farm, read more books, learn to play guitar like her mother, spend more time with family, exercise, and travel more, especially visiting family members who live abroad.
Thank you, Luisa, for your endless hard work, kindness, and dedication over the past 25 years.
