Thank you to Lone Oak Dental (Dr. Kelly Rhodes & Dr. Megan Pycraft) and Dr. David Newmarker, DDS for donating toothpaste for Red Oak Behavioral Health's resource room! We know that dental health is a huge part of overall wellness, and we are so excited to be able to share these resources with our clients.

Did you know that we have a resource room for our clients? This includes basic needs like hygiene items, as well as items our staff can use to help clients build positive coping skills, like fidget toys and notebooks. We have several ways you can be part of this project:

💡November's Parenting Tip from Kelli Law, OCPSA💡

World Kindness Day Edition!

Part 2:
Do One Unexpected Kind Thing Each Week
Surprise your child with a small act of kindness.
Why? Sometimes during the hustle and bustle of this time of year children can feel overlooked, and also, who doesn't love to feel loved and appreciated?
Make it as simple for you as you are able. This could be a simple as a note in their lunch or on the bathroom mirror, or spending 10 minutes playing with them to listening to their favorite music. Little acts make a big difference!

Feel Good Friday

Earlier this year Red Oak Behavioral Health received funding from the County of Summit ADM Board to support our employee retention efforts. Some of those funds we gave directly to our employees to use to support their clients, and we are blown away by the creative uses we have seen! Social Work Intern and Case Manager Lindsay Marrone used her $100 to create a cart in her office at Betty Jane CLC where students can take what they need, such as deodorant, tissues, fidget toys, etc. and "pay" by leaving a positive note for another student. What a beautiful way to support these students!

Today during the continued food insecurity in our community due to the lack of SNAP funding we want to share some of the resources currently available. More details on each of these in the images.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has expanded their walk-in pantry hours and has a list of all of their partner pantries available here: https://www.akroncantonfoodbank.org/find-help (you can sort by date, zip code, etc.)

Swensons Drive-In Restaurants & Skoops Ice Cream - Barberton are both offering free food for kids.

METRO- Regional Transit Authority is offering free rides to those affected.

We are also doing our best to support our clients and their families with basic needs during this time. If you would like to support this work, please go to https://redoakbh.org/be-a-donor, and select "Where most needed" and in the comments write "client resources."

Please feel free to share additional resources in the comments!

💡November's Parenting Tip from Kelli Law, OCPSA💡

November is the start of the holidays and a meaningful time to find ways to do good and grow as a parent.

Part 1:
Model Gratitude
The best way to help your child learn what you would like them to do is to model it yourself.
Why? Kids learn by seeing an example, not just hearing about it.
One easy practice you can begin today is to share one good thing that happened during your day, and invite your child to share, too.
Another example could be to start a thankful jar and each family member write one thing they are grateful for daily. On Thanksgiving, you can read them together.

Thank you Summit County for your support of Issue 1! You showed that mental health matters to our community!

On behalf of the County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board staff, Board of Directors, community partners and the ADM Support Committee, we extend our deepest gratitude to the residents of Summit County for your overwhelming support in passing Issue 1.

Your vote of confidence reaffirms our shared commitment to advancing health, wellness, and recovery for all. This support ensures that essential mental health and addiction services remain strong, accessible, and responsive to the needs of individuals and families across our community.

Together, we are building a healthier, more hopeful future. Thank you for standing with us, believing in our mission, and investing in the well-being of our neighbors.

With gratitude, Aimee Wade, Executive Director
