Michael C DePoincy

Michael C. de Poincy, born on April 10, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 70. Michael faced many challenges in life, being mentally challenged, deaf in both ears, and having a speech impediment. Despite these obstacles, he showed remarkable resilience and independence throughout his life.

At age four, Michael moved with his family to Memphis, Tennessee, where he later attended public school in special education classes. His school years saw him return to New Orleans and later move to San Antonio, Texas. During this time, Michael learned essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes, preparing him for a life of self-sufficiency. He worked diligently in both mainstream lower-level jobs and specialized workshops, always striving to contribute and grow. Despite these challenges Mike remained a beloved and cheerful presence in the lives of those who knew him.

After the passing of his parents in the late 1990s, Michael relocated to Murphysboro, Illinois, with his brother where he worked at the S.T.A.R.T. workshop and lived independently. Everyone loved Mike and he was very sociable in the area. In 2014, he moved to Akron, Ohio, and joined Windfall Industries, a workshop where he did piece work and found a supportive community. Michael lived in a group home for mentally challenged adults managed by Summit DD, Sevita Health and later supported by REM Ohio where he most recently resided in a group home in Barberton, Ohio. He took great pride in his work at Windfall and cherished the friendships he made with them and others in the Cleveland/Akron area.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, his brother's wife, and three nephews. His life was a testament to perseverance, kindness, and the strength of the human spirit. Michael passed away from Acute Respiratory Failure following back surgery.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday April 26, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. Friends may call one hour prior to services.

Audrey N. Anslow (Fenn), 49, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Monday March 23, 2026. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Rene; her mother, Donna Corey; and several beloved aunts and grandparents.

She is survived by her father, James Fenn; her children, Samantha Oliver (Gregory Oliver), Kevin Anslow (Emerald Anslow), Wyat Anslow, and Angel Hendershot (Dalton Hendershot); her cherished granddaughter, Ivory Oliver and countless friends and extended family who loved her deeply.

Audrey was, above all else, a mother. Her love lives on through her children, and her granddaughter was her most treasured joy. She was a natural caretaker—compassionate, generous, and deeply loving. To truly know Audrey was to love her. She worked as a banker at Huntington Bank, where she brightened the day of everyone who walked through the door with her kindness and warmth. Audrey also had a passion for football and was a lifelong 12th Man—Sundays in her home were never complete without cheering on the Seattle Seahawks. Even in her battle with cancer, Audrey showed incredible strength and unwavering bravery, continuing to put others before herself and love deeply through it all. Audrey was a radiant light in the lives of so many, and her memory will be forever cherished. She will be deeply missed.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday April 2, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Lucia Natalia Ayala

It is with heavy hearts and unimaginable grief that the family of Lucia Natalia announces her passing on March 7, 2026. Our Lucia was born on February 8, 2024 as a cherished gift from God. She was named with intention, as Lucia means “light,” and never has a name been more perfectly given. Not only did Lucia come into our lives during a season when our family needed her light to shine brightest, but her flame continued to grow and guide us through one of the most pivotal chapters of our lives for two years.

Although the loss of Lucia is immense and has created a significant void in our lives, we choose to believe she was a precious soul lent to us by God precisely when we needed her most. Her presence strengthened the family in immeasurable ways, and she played a profound role in deepening the bond of her parents' marriage, bringing them the second child they had longed and prayed for.

Lucy was a spunky, energetic little goofball whose personality filled every room she entered. She was wonderfully ornery, able to flip a switch from being wild & silly to being the sweetest angel in the blink of an eye. She was constantly moving, snacking on everything, giving the cheesiest smile. Her mamá lovingly called her a “hot mess express,” a title that perfectly captured her lively spirit and endless amount of energy. She always wanted to be close to her mamá, practically joined at the hip. Their favorite song was "Dancing in the Moonlight.” Lucia’s face would light up anytime she heard it and would immediately ask mamá to dance. She had the cutest dimples and loved when her mamá would tickle her little cheeks. Lucia shared an incredibly close bond with her papá, their love & connection were evident to everyone around them. She loved to share “bubbles” (sparkling water) with him, steal his chapstick, or ask for a spritz of his cologne. She could never sit still, except for when she was sitting on her papá’s lap. She always wanted to copy everything her older sister “Vále” was doing; playing dress up, singing and dancing, painting their nails, coloring, and “haciendo travesuras” (being mischievous). They loved bath time together and sharing Mexican “pan” and café in the morning with mamá and papá.

Lucia adored being surrounded by our huge family. She loved running around with her many cousins, always trying to keep up with the older kids & making us all laugh. Some of her happiest moments were during our weekly family dinners with lively games of Italian cards, where she would giggle, play, and sneak as many sweets as she could. Little Lucy loved to be right in the middle of the chaos.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her great-grandparents, Emidio and Rosa Piermarini; Guadalupe and Josefina Ayala; Refugio and Natalia Torres; and her Zio Serafino.

Lucia is survived by her parents, Victoria (Piermarini) and Arnoldo; her big sister Valentina (“Vále”); her grandparents, Pellegrino and Tina Piermarini (“Nonno” and “Nonna”), and Martha and Juvenal Ayala (her “Titos”); and her great-grandmother, Olimpia “EIO” Fatica. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Olivia; Emidio (Monica); Oscar (Claudia); Hermila (Juan), who are also Lucia’s padrinos; and Hugo.

She will be greatly missed by her cousins, with whom she beamed with happiness from ear to ear: Selina, Gia Bella, Olimpia, Emiliano, Matias, Joshua, Emily, Jimena, and Owen. Lucia also leaves behind many aunts and uncles and countless second cousins who loved her dearly. We feel blessed that Lucy had the family she did, one that will continue to keep her memory alive.

Though Lucia’s time with our family was far too short, what a blessing it has been to have such a true “light” in our lives, and a light like hers was never meant to shine for just a moment. Lucy will continue to shine in every milestone her big sister reaches, every family dinner where her name is spoken, every moment her parents look at each other remembering the impact her life had on the family. Our family takes comfort in knowing that this beautiful child of God is now held safely in Heaven, wrapped in the eternal love of the Lord and the arms of our loved ones who went before her.

Vuela alto nuestro angelito precioso.

Friends may be received from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday March 15, 2026 at St. Joseph Parish Church, 1761 2nd St, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday March 16, 2026 at the church as well, with Fr. Jared Orndorff officiating.

Audrey M Simon

Audrey M. (Miller) Simon, 86, passed peacefully on March 7, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 14, 1939 to Laverne and Gladys Miller. Audrey is preceded in death by her mom and dad; her sister and best friend, June (Miller) Makar; her husband, Clyde Simon; her daughter, Audrey (Dolly) Simon, and brother-in-law, Bob Makar.

Audrey is survived by life partner, Dwain (Buck) Byers; brother Dall Miller; son, Clyde (Wanda) Simon, Jr.; daughter, Debra Simon, grandchildren,, Jeremy (Stacey) Simon, Michelle (Simon) Ghaster ,Shawn Milici, Brian Milici, and Nick Milici, and Christopher (Stacey) Haskins; along with nephews, niece, many great grandchildren and great nieces, nephews and friends, and family fur-babies who loved her dearly.

Audrey was the epitome of the loving matriarch of the family. She was kind, generous and had a silly sense of humor on occasion. She had a radiant smile which warmed those around her. Rarely did she spend time with anyone, family, friends and strangers, where she didn’t say “bless your heart” meaningfully to ensure everyone felt loved and appreciated. Audrey worked as a baker for a short while, but did most of her baking for family and friends for most of her life. She taught herself to create beautifully decorated cakes and other treats to the delight of everyone around her. She was also a great cook, liked to garden and loved her flower beds. Audrey was also quite the homesteader, freezing fruits and vegetables to enjoy in the off season. She was a member of the American Legion, where she made many friends, volunteered, and served her culinary treats for multiple events and fund raisers. She loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. To this day we can hear her singing to Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and Englebert Humperdinck.

She was happiest when she was spending time with her grandkids. Jeremy’s birth made her a first-time, very young grandma, and she relished their extraordinarily close relationship to the very end. Audrey was fortunate to travel with her family as a child seeing most of the US the old-fashioned way by car. She loved and rode horses throughout her childhood and didn’t meet a dog she didn’t adore. She is a breast cancer survivor, and lived valiantly for years with her debilitating Alzheimer’s disease. She will be missed by so many who loved her deeply, who are grateful she’s now at peace and with her loved ones who left before her.

Her wishes were to have a private send-off and for everyone to remember her with a smile, a laugh and a “bless your heart” to anyone sad and hurting.

The family would also like to send a special Thank You to those who cared for Audrey in the Memory Care unit at Heritage of Hudson, and most recently the exemplary care she received from Summa Hospital’s Hospice Unit. Tammy and Don, we owe you and the rest of your amazing team our deepest gratitude for the loving, gentle care you provided. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association (Greater East Ohio) or Hospice-directed funds to The Summa Foundation.

Christopher S. Soulsby

Christopher Steven Soulsby, born December 25, 1967, passed away on Monday February 23, 2026 after a 15-month battle with cancer.

Chris was an old soul who loved the simple things in life: sitting outside with a cup of coffee on a cool morning, listening to a train in the distance, walking in the woods, strumming his guitar on a rainy afternoon – peace and joy were often found in simplicity. He was also someone who handled life’s troubles quietly and to himself, always with a smile on his face. To offer help or a kind word was his nature, always paying it forward without an expectation of something in return.

Chris had many diverse skills, interests and hobbies throughout the years. He was a Harley rider, nature lover, motorcycle racer, mechanical wizard; founding member, referee, coach and announcer of the Rubber City Rollergirls; model train enthusiast, traveler, songwriter and musician, to name a few.

Chris and his wife Tracy had many travels together throughout the years, which always seemed to take them off the beaten path. Some of the trips that seemed to spark the most conversations of “Do you remember that time?” and “Wasn’t that so cool?” included exploring the lava fields in Hawaii, watching the sun set from above the clouds on Mauna Kea, experiencing the magic of the northern lights in Alaska, seeing the glaciers of Iceland and walking its black sand beaches, and standing on either side of the prime meridian in Greenwich, England, before heading to a Van Morrison and Jeff Beck show later that evening. But by far, some of their most cherished memories were of their many trips to FloydFest and to Floyd, Virginia, a tiny musical town they discovered by accident and grew to love.

Chris strived to be the best he could be in everything he did - always researching, practicing and honing skills, no matter what challenge he tackled or hobby he pursued. Nowhere is this more evident than with his music. Chris began his musical journey as a child. The times he spent with an elderly uncle who played music sparked his own interest in playing music, and when he was ten years old his mother encouraged him to begin taking guitar lessons. Over the years Chris became an accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter, which afforded him the opportunity to compete in the International Blues Challenge three times, and to play live on Beale Street in Memphis and on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Chris was at his happiest when he was playing music, and he loved performing live and being part of the local music community.

Chris would want to be remembered not only as a good musician, but as someone who persevered, who never gave up, and who always gave his best no matter what life threw at him. He will live on through his music, as well as through the memories of his family, his friends and his many coworkers and colleagues throughout the years, most recently in his position as VP of Engineering at Paarlo Plastics.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Mary Soulsby. He is survived by his wife, Tracy. He is also survived by his cousin and best friend, Jon Kopsky (Leah) and their grandson Bryce (“Roo”); as well as many other cousins and relatives.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held on Sunday May 17, 2026 from 3pm – 7pm at Happy Days Lodge, 500 W. Streetsboro St., Peninsula, OH 44264. Event details can be found at www.tinyurl.com/ChristopherSoulsbyCelebration RSVP’s needed by May 1st. RSVP may be made online or texted to (234) 815-8285.
