Understanding the anatomical significance of acupuncture points can help when choosing needle depth angle and the appropriate sensory result from insertion called “arrival of qi”.” This is experienced by the patient. This can be experienced as a dull achey warm spreading sensation, not sharp or painful. Sometimes experienced by the practitioner as a grab or a pull, like a fish on the line.
