On January 22, Alameda Family Services participated as a volunteer organization in the Alameda Point-In-Time (PIT) Count. We were assigned to the group “Travel Is My Love Language,” alongside Mr. Ross McCarthy, Finance Director for the City of Alameda, and Jen Lucky, Housing Specialist with Alameda County Housing and Homelessness Services.

Our team covered the designated area and conducted interviews with individuals experiencing homelessness. The experience was both emotional and deeply meaningful. Hearing firsthand the diverse circumstances that led individuals into homelessness, as well as the hope many continue to hold for a brighter future with stable housing, was profoundly impactful.

Participating in the PIT Count reinforced the importance of our work and the value of continued collaboration across agencies to address homelessness with compassion, dignity, and purpose.

Our IOP offers more support than weekly therapy while allowing clients to stay rooted in their daily lives. The IOP providers, therapists and a double board-certified (child and adult) psychiatrist, help individuals build coping skills in a compassionate environment. We're here to support this journey. On September 24th, Alameda Family Services hosted a Free Diapers & Wipes Drive-Thru at the College of Alameda Child Development Center and 197 families showed up! 💙

We’re incredibly grateful to the amazing Alameda Island High School students Rowan Trahan, Terrell Marshall, and Thaisen Tran and their teacher Ms. Delinda Hansen for lending their time and hearts to support local families.

Special thanks to Head Start/CSPP parent Ms. Dawn Singletary for her generous support. Together, we’re helping ease the burden for parents and ensuring every child gets the care they deserve.

AFS showed up and showed out at the Oakland Roots game last night! Huge thanks to PG&E for the generous ticket donation and for recognizing Alameda Family Services at halftime as the PG&E at the Pitch group.

It was a night of community and connection, cheering on the Roots and celebrating the work we do together💚
