This amazing icon to our city's past has hosted folks from all over the world. The CN turned it over to the city many years ago with the stipulation that it be open to the public on a reasonable basis and lived in as both a commercial and residential arrangement. Although the city does not make it a priority when it comes to upkeep It still brings much pleasure to the myriad of folk who enjoy the location , history and hospitality of the current operator host. It is the WESTERN TERMINUS of the illustrious Grand Trunk Pacific railroad who gave birth to the city in early 1900. The railroad employed engineer JH Pillsbury from Massachusetts over a 100 years ago to construct the city and his family home. It was the place of birth of the first non native child and held the first wedding reception . The gables line up with the compass and the old timers claim the wind tunnels around the home rather than hitting it full force. It is built from first growth timber and is very solid. It needs tender love and care, a coat of paint, some repairs but it still charms folks. I am proud to be the hostess and to entertain and keep the place alive and thriving for the world visitors.
