When Matthew began planning his Eagle Scout project over a year ago, he reached out to Laura Bakar, Director of Bruns House. He immediately thought of Hospice East Bay and the Bruns House—a place that had supported his own family during a difficult time. His mom couldn’t say enough about the care they received and how much it helped them when they needed hospice support most.

After completing his beautiful project, Matthew generously donated the remaining funds he raised to the Bruns House.

Thank you, Matthew, for giving back in such a meaningful and heartfelt way.

In October, Sheila celebrated an incredible milestone—20 years of volunteer service at the Bruns House, supporting our patients and families. We shared many laughs as Sheila reflected on her journey, from how she first heard about the volunteer opportunity to memories of her first shift and the tasks volunteers helped with 20 years ago. Thank you, Sheila, for your dedication and all you’ve done over the years!
