Director of Retail Operations Nicole Kannier and Retail Operations & Volunteer Coordinator Mary Peinado were recently honored by our friends at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano alongside fellow “Meal Makers.” They received an appreciation award for helping lead our food collection efforts through donation barrels at our six Hospice Thrift Shoppes, our Pleasant Hill office, and the Bruns House.

It’s truly an honor to support our local food bank and give back to the community on behalf of our Thrift Shoppes and Hospice East Bay.

When Matthew began planning his Eagle Scout project over a year ago, he reached out to Laura Bakar, Director of Bruns House. He immediately thought of Hospice East Bay and the Bruns House—a place that had supported his own family during a difficult time. His mom couldn’t say enough about the care they received and how much it helped them when they needed hospice support most.

After completing his beautiful project, Matthew generously donated the remaining funds he raised to the Bruns House.
