Hospice del Valle would like to announce a change in leadership. Our wonderful Executive Director, Laura Lewis, has decided to pursue other opportunities and we wish her well in these adventures! Our new Executive Director, Amber Cortez, has previously served HdV and our patients as a LPN. Please welcome Amber to her new position!

Happy New Year to our Buddhist friends in the San Luis Valley! Mahayan New Year was January 18th this year. Tibetan and Theravadin Buddhists will celebrate the new year in March and April, respectively.

It's Rio Frio time! The ice artisans have outdone themselves again this year. Come downtown to check out the sculptures and events. We are usually lucky enough to have a sculpture right outside our door!

Wonderful news! Cienna was found last night and is safely back home! We here at Hospice del Valle know how special the San Luis Valley community can be, and were unsurprised to see everyone jump into action these last few days to try and help find Cienna. THANK YOU!!

Hospice del Valle is now hiring a full-time Nurse Case Manager.

Requirements include:
* Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
* Current licensing as a Registered Nurse in Colorado
* BSN preferred
* At least one year of professional experience in the delivery of nursing services, two to five years preferred
* Willingness and ability to travel within the hospice service area
* Ability to lift fifty pounds and independently perform personal care on a patient who weighs up to two hundred and fifty pounds.

The Nurse Case Manager provides leadership abilities with strengths in the following areas:
* Understanding, identifying, and assisting in the coordination of the needs of the terminally ill and their families with a strong commitment to the hospice concept
* Ability to understand and promote effective interaction between the members of the IDT, other hospice members, nursing homes, hospitals, and community members
* Effective verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills
* Supervision of CNAs, LPNs, and other paraprofessionals providing care to the patient and family
* Physical and emotional health and personal qualities which enable him/her to work effectively with patients, families, and staff, including satisfactory adjustment to significant personal losses
* A strong desire for continued personal and professional growth and development
* The ability to perform duties independently
* The ability to work non-judgmentally with patients and families of many cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and a variety of lifestyles.
