IN MEMORIAM. This message is to honor a father/son duo affected by ge***al squamous cell carcinoma. This is the most common neoplasm in this area. However it is rather unusual for a father and son to be affected. The most common cause is EcPV2, papillomavirus. These boys were laid to rest yesterday morning and their family has graciously and honorably allowed us to submit whole blood, hair, and tissue to the genetics lab at UC Davis, to further gain knowledge, insight, and hopefully more effective treatment modalities in the future. Thank you all for your part in this long journey, and thank you especially to the boys' family. Equine cancer research greatly appreciates you. Sincerely. The equine team.

Necrotizing fasciitis in horses can be fatal. The condition can begin as a small puncture and progress to widespread systemic infection. Wounds in general and puncture wounds in particular are serious. The winter haircoat can make it difficult to find wounds.
