We’re excited to recognize Melissa Babbitt with Infusion Services at Samaritan Albany General Hospital as one of our Rising Stars! 🌟 A patient’s ride home didn’t go as planned, which turned into a stressful moment for everyone involved. Melissa stepped in to sort out the details with multiple contacts while arranging a new pickup. She also made sure the patient felt supported while waiting by offering reassurance, food and water. Her calm approach helped turn a tough situation into something manageable. 💙

The Samaritan Albany General Hospital Volunteer Services program offers scholarships each year to support tuition, books and required program supplies for students in human medical fields. The program is now accepting applications for its annual $1,000 scholarship and applications are due Tuesday, March 31.

Nicole Wilkerson is celebrated for her kindness, patience and willingness to go above and beyond for patients and coworkers. From typing up clear medication instructions for a patient’s mother to personally walking confused visitors to the right location, Nicole’s compassion shines in every interaction. 💛👏
Nicole earned her medical assisting license seven years ago and has been with Samaritan for nearly a year and a half.. Her warm heart and dedication to patients make her an invaluable part of the Pulmonology team. 💙🌿 Help us congratulate Nicole for the care and comfort she brings to our community every day! 🙌💫

A small act of kindness can change a hard day, and that’s exactly what Emergency Department nurse Erika Lentz, RN, did. 🌼 During her shift, she learned that a young patient’s sibling was spending a birthday in the hospital shortly after a devastating family loss. Erika stepped away on her break, bought a small gift and helped gather the team to sing.

Her kindness brought a moment of comfort. 💛 Her co-workers see moments like this regularly, which is why they nominated her for the DAISY Award.

Erika always shows up with a calm presence, compassion and sincerity. We’re proud to honor her as Samaritan Albany General Hospital’s first Emergency Department DAISY Award recipient. 👏

Stop by Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gift shop is ran by volunteers and all proceeds go towards supporting our Volunteer Services scholarship.
