Today marks the anniversary of our beloved midwife’s passing. Dates like this can feel heavy, but today we hope to honor her in a different way—not with quiet sadness, but with the joy she so naturally brought into the world. 💜
She was a keeper of stories, of strength, of new beginnings. Her hands welcomed babies, her words comforted families, and her spirit touched so many of us in lasting ways.
Today, we invite you to help fill this space with the light she shared. Please post a story—yours or one she loved to tell—that makes you smile when you think of her. If you have photos, we would love to see those too.
Let’s celebrate her the way she lived: surrounded by community, laughter, and the beautiful stories that connect us all.

A big Thank You to our Shana for everything she does!

Hello, ladies 💜 it's Shana. I hope that March is finding you all healthy and doing well. I know this month is weighing heavily on many. If that is true for you, my heart is with you.

I have applied to the Midwifery program at SUNY Stonybrook, Kelly's Alma Mater. I've made it through the initial application process, and my next step is an in-person interview with four other applicants followed immediately by an essay that is to be written in 30 minutes.

No pressure 😬 Right?

I would love for you to send me all your prayers and positive vibes this week. 💜

I know that Kelly is with me. I feel her every day. But this is an incredibly, incredibly difficult step to be taking without her by my side.

This is not how we planned it. This isn't the way it was supposed to be. 💔 And my heart aches.

I know many of you relate all too well.

I will take this opportunity to remind you that, wherever you are on your journey, the Sage-Femme team is here to support you. Through birth classes, doula services, placenta encapsulation, lactation support or just to hold space - we are here. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to any one of us.
