“Gliding Stars” is creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to experience the joy of skating and the confidence that comes with it. Truly inspiring work happening right here in New York!

Near Buffalo, New York, a program called “Gliding Stars” is changing lives one skater at a time. The skaters have a range of disabilities, and the nonprofit provides adaptive equipment like special skates, walkers and slings so anyone can take the ice. NBC News’ Hallie Jackson has the story.

Our hearts go out to Unity House of Troy, Inc. and all those affected by the recent fire at the Kathryn Allen Center. We are thankful that everyone is safe and grateful for the first responders.

Unity House is saddened to share that our non-residential, Kathryn Allen Center for Domestic and Sexual Violence Services building experienced a structural fire early this morning. The building sustained significant damage, but thankfully, no one was injured or in the building at the time.
We are so grateful for the incredible efforts of fire crews from Troy and surrounding towns.

In the coming days, we will be working to support our staff and clients affected by this loss.

We are excited to introduce Sober Salon, a new quarterly gathering for people in recovery to share creative work in a welcoming, substance free space.

Art can help us express what is hard to carry alone and sharing it builds trust. We look forward to welcoming you February 22. Admission is free thanks to the Victor and Helen Geisel Foundation.
