Students from Worth County R-III High School recently visited Mosaic Medical Center – Albany as part of the AHEC job shadow program. Among them was Keira, daughter of Vicky, an RN and associate director of nursing.
Vicky still remembers how her own high school job shadow opened her eyes to the world of health care. Seeing her daughter explore the same path was a meaningful moment.
“I had a lot of encouragement from my mom to do a job shadow,” says Keira. “She told me I needed to see what health care professionals really do — not just the glam videos online. It helped me explore what interests me and discover other opportunities I hadn’t considered.”
For Vicky, it brought things full circle. “Rural health care is so important to our communities,” she said. “My job shadow experience broadened my horizons, and I wanted my daughter to have that same chance.
