In partnership with The Success Map Initiative, Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region and our Jail Transition Program hosted a Second Chance Career Fair Thursday at Trinity Place Center. At a time when almost every organization has job openings they simply cannot fill, the fair brought together local employers and justice impacted individuals to make connections and hopefully create a new workforce development pipeline.

Everyone knows that it’s hard to find good employees right now. The talent pool is pretty thin, so employers have had to get more creative to find team members. This includes expanding the pool of workers that they consider beyond the normal subset.

Thursday’s event, attended by about 50 neighbors, was designed for individuals navigating reentry and others impacted by the justice system who are seeking meaningful employment. On-the-spot interviews were available.

This event came on the heels of a ready-for-work workshop called All About the Benjamins, which took place earlier this month. It was curated for individuals navigating reentry and helped them learn how to search for jobs, secure references, and build the skills necessary for the workplace.

Trinity Alliance is grateful to Success Map Initiative for its organizational efforts, and employers the City of Albany, Albany County, State Department of Health, Janitronics, Price Chopper Supermarkets, First Born Daughter Respite Services, SD Independent Living and the SEAT Center for their participation. More events are being planned for the future.

Today, United Way of the Greater Capital Region joined state OTDA Commissioner Barbara Guinn and her team, long-standing VITA coalition member Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, Daniel McCoy - Albany County Executive, and representatives for Paul D. Tonko to remind people of changes in the tax law, and how there is free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) services available, including from Trinity Alliance.

Last year alone, VITA tax prep programs brought more than $9 million back to our community—supporting income-eligible families and boosting the local economy.

Thank you, United Way! Don’ miss out on earning full tax credits and perhaps a refund. To learn more or book an appointment, visit: www.getfreetaxprep.org.

In honor of International Women’s Day, I was deeply humbled to be inducted as a Godmother of the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region during their 3rd Annual Bread & Roses Luncheon, alongside our Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region Fractional CMO Nicole Stein and the courageous Dr. Corey Jamison. Thank you, Starr Renee, CEO, YWCA-GCR for this honor and privilege. 🙏🏾💚

It was also an honor to stand among fellow Godmothers Beth Walsh and Sherry Rounds, and Godfather Don Csaposs, whose commitment to women and community continues to inspire.

As we celebrated the women of YWCA-GCR with roses, I was reminded of a powerful truth: the question isn’t who is going to let women — it’s who is going to stop us women from changing the world!

Thank you to the entire YWCA-GCR family and everyone who joined this meaningful and unforgettable celebration.
