Lately, God’s been telling me something I didn’t want to hear…
Slow down.

I’ve been stuck in the cycle of exhaustion, anxiety, poor sleep, caffeine, repeat. And as someone in functional medicine, it’s easy to think the answer is more, more protocols, more optimization, more doing.

But that wasn’t fixing it.

What I’ve been reminded of is this:
We’re not just physical beings.

Mental.
Emotional.
Spiritual.

And if our beliefs are off, everything else follows.

You can’t out-supplement a restless heart.

So instead of chasing productivity, I’m learning to rest. To trust. To let God lead instead of trying to control everything.

If you’re feeling stuck in that same cycle, you’re not alone.
Less chasing. More trusting

I talk with a lot of men who say the same thing: “I just don’t feel like I used to.” Lower energy, decreased motivation, stubborn weight gain, reduced strength, and changes in mood can all be signs of low testosterone.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) isn’t about extremes—it’s about restoring optimal levels so your body can function the way it was designed to. When done thoughtfully and monitored closely, many men experience improved energy, focus, muscle mass, and overall vitality.

The key is personalized care. No one-size-fits-all approach—just a plan built around you, your labs, and your goals.

If something feels off, it’s worth exploring.

I see so many women come into my practice feeling unlike themselves—low energy, brain fog, mood swings, poor sleep… and often being told it’s “just part of aging.” But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is designed to restore balance using hormones that are structurally identical to what your body naturally produces. When we address the root cause, not just the symptoms, women often experience renewed energy, improved mood, better sleep, and a greater sense of well-being.
If you’ve been feeling off and can’t quite explain it, your hormones may be playing a bigger role than you think.

You don’t have to settle for feeling “fine.” Let’s get you feeling like you again.

Easter reminds me that true healing isn’t just physical, it’s deeply spiritual.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...” — 1 Peter 1:3

Because of Jesus, we are not defined by what’s broken, depleted, or weary. We are invited into renewal, body, mind, and spirit!

This season, I’m especially grateful that the work I get to do in helping people restore balance and feel whole again reflects a small part of that greater story of redemption and new life.

If you’ve been feeling off, discouraged, or not like yourself, there is hope. Always.
Wishing you a joyful and hope-filled Easter.

I share a lot here, but some of my most helpful insights don’t always make it to social media.

In my newsletter, I go a little deeper, breaking down hormones, energy, gut health, and what’s actually driving the symptoms you may be feeling. I also share practical steps you can start implementing right away, along with updates from my practice.
If you’re looking for real answers (not just quick fixes), I’d love to stay connected with you there.

Do you wake up around 3 a.m. every night and can’t fall back asleep?

I hear this from patients all the time.

In this video, I explain some of the most common root causes of early morning awakenings, including cortisol imbalance, blood sugar crashes, hormone changes (especially during perimenopause), and chronic inflammation.

Waking up at 3 a.m. may be common, but it’s not normal. When we identify the root cause, sleep often improves dramatically.

Watch the video to learn more.

If this sounds like you, you can schedule an appointment at willkoopal.com to start getting to the root cause and sleeping better.

Spring is nature’s reset button.

While January gets all the attention, many cultures recognize spring as the true beginning when light returns, energy rises, and our bodies naturally shift toward renewal.

Winter’s cold and shorter days slow metabolism, encourage rest, and affect hormones like melatonin and cortisol. As daylight increases in spring, our circadian rhythms adjust, helping wakefulness, mood, digestion, and hormone balance naturally.

Functional medicine supports this seasonal reset by aligning lifestyle, nutrition, and sleep with these natural rhythms. Gentle detox, balanced meals, and mindful movement can help your body move from winter’s rest into spring’s energy and renewal.

Happy first day of spring!

Brain fog is one of the most common complaints I see, but it’s rarely just a brain problem.

In functional medicine, we look at the whole body to understand why the brain isn’t functioning optimally.

Brain fog can be connected to:
• Poor sleep
• Stress
• Diet and metabolic health
• Gut inflammation and microbiome imbalance
• Hormonal changes (thyroid, estrogen, progesterone)
• Environmental exposures like mold or toxins

Your brain is extremely sensitive to inflammation and imbalances happening elsewhere in the body.

That’s why addressing the root causes not just the symptoms often leads to major improvements in clarity, focus, and energy.

Watch the video to learn how gut health, hormones, inflammation, and lifestyle factors can all contribute to brain fog.

Spent the weekend at the MAPS Conference (Medical Academy of Pediatrics & Special Needs) with my wife learning from leaders in functional and integrative pediatrics.

Rates of autism, ADHD, allergies, and chronic illness in children continue to rise. Functional medicine looks deeper at factors like the gut microbiome, immune function, nutrition, and environmental exposures that may be contributing.

If you’re a parent who has been told “everything looks normal” but your child is still struggling, there may be another layer worth exploring.

I’m excited to begin integrating more pediatric functional medicine into my practice and helping families search for deeper answers.

Perimenopause and menopause don’t just affect reproduction, they also affect the brain, bones, metabolism, mood, and heart health.

In this video I explain what happens when estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone decline, the symptoms many women experience, and how bioidentical hormone replacement therapy may help when used safely and appropriately.

Many women start noticing symptoms up to 10 years before menopause, including:
• Hot flashes
• Insomnia
• Brain fog
• Anxiety
• Weight gain
• Vaginal dryness
• Loss of muscle tone

The key is proper testing, personalized care, and addressing lifestyle factors like sleep, stress, and nutrition alongside hormone therapy.

If you're struggling with perimenopause or menopause symptoms, there are options that may help you feel like yourself again.
