Check out MHANYS CEO Glenn Liebman explaining why MHANYS is advocating for a 2.7% targeted inflationary increase for the community-based behavioral health not-for-profit workforce in this year’s New York State budget.

While the Governor’s Executive budget calls for a 1.7% increase, it is not enough to keep up with rising costs.

Join us at Mental Health Matters Day on March 11th to fight for this needed investment in our workforce! Your voice is your power!

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King’s vision of justice, dignity, and collective care continues to guide our work. His commitment to equity reminds us that mental health is a civil right—and that access to compassionate, culturally responsive care is essential to building strong, healthy communities.

On this day of service and reflection, we recommit to advancing racial equity, uplifting voices too often unheard, and creating a New York where everyone has the opportunity to heal, thrive, and belong.

Anxiety disorders are among the most common mental health conditions, and support makes a difference.

Anxiety can affect how we think, feel, and function in daily life, but with understanding, care, and the right resources, people can manage symptoms and build resilience.

At MHANYS, we offer information to help individuals and families recognize signs of anxiety disorders, explore treatment options, and find support:

A big moment for youth mental health in New York.

At today’s press conference in Western New York, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a nation-leading commitment to expand Teen Mental Health First Aid—with the goal of making training available to every 10th grader statewide as part of her 2026 State of the State.

Since the start of this initiative, the Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS), both directly and through our partner sites across the state, have trained 4,845 teens in Teen MHFA and more than 3,000 adults in Youth MHFA. According to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, New York has experienced a 540% increase in teens certified, underscoring the rapid growth and statewide momentum of this mental health literacy work.

Pictured here following the announcement is Glenn Liebman as MHANYS continues its role as a key implementation partner bringing Teen and Youth MHFA to schools and communities across New York State.

New York is leading—and this work is just getting started. 💚

National Mental Wellness Month is a time to pause, reflect, and prioritize our mental health.

Mental health is about more than managing challenges.

Mental health is about building resilience, fostering connection, and creating spaces where people can thrive. Everyone deserves access to support, understanding, and care that honors their whole self.

At MHANYS, we work to promote mental health through advocacy, education, and community-driven resources that empower individuals and strengthen systems of care.

Wellness is a journey, and no one should walk it alone.
