6th Annual Virtual Spring Summit
Reclaiming Body Ownership and Self-Growth During Times of Loss and Bereavement - A Movement-Based Healing Protocol
Presenter: Galit Zana Sternfeld, Ph.D, MA, R-DMT
Saturday, March 28, 2PM EST
CEUs: 2 ADTA, 2 NBCC

In times of crisis and loss, working through the body helps process painful emotions, and encourages personal growth, via movement awareness, and body ownership. The current workshop introduces the Movement-Based Healing Protocol, designed to support coping with loss and bereavement. It aims to equip therapists with a practical tool for healing and growth by creating renewed narratives of the body and mind. The protocol is intended for patients who have experienced loss, bereavement, or other painful experiences. It consists of four stages that use movement awareness and bodily expressions aimed to provide self-comfort throughout the journey of healing and growth.

ADTA61 Call for Proposals Closing Soon
Tides of Change: Innovations in Dance/Movement Therapy

The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) invites proposals for its 61st Annual Conference, taking place November 5–8, 2026, in Long Beach, California.

This conference will be held on the traditional land of the Tongva (Gabrielino/Kizh) and Acjachemen (Juaneño) peoples. We acknowledge and honor their enduring relationship to this land and the wisdom carried through generations.

Conference Theme: Tides of Change: Innovations in Dance/Movement Therapy

As dance/movement therapy enters new horizons, we gather at the edge of shifting tides to explore how embodied wisdom meets emerging technologies. This conference invites participants to engage with cutting-edge research on dance/movement, presence, and healing, while critically and creatively reflecting on the role of artificial intelligence and digital innovation in shaping therapeutic practice.

From the intimacy of virtual therapy to the expansiveness of shared physical space, ADTA61 looks toward the future as a confluence of possibilities—each current carrying innovation, resilience, ethics, and connection. Together, we chart new constellations of care, bridging ancestral rhythms with contemporary tools, and discovering how the currents of change can guide us into the expansive waters of dance/movement therapy.

Proposals may include research presentations, experiential workshops, panels, roundtables, and other formats aligned with ADTA conference guidelines.

Call for Proposals Closes: February 23, 2026

Submit your proposal and review full guidelines at: https://bit.ly/4qiZdcP

We invite you to lend your voice, movement, and vision as we navigate the tides of change together and imagine the future of dance/movement therapy.

We are celebrating the 2025 winners of the ADTA's annual awards, announced at the conference in November. The INNOVATION Award recognizes an ADTA member who has served the local chapter or ADTA in a remarkable and substantive way.

This year's winner of the Innovation Award, Laurice Nemetz, is a unique innovator in connecting dance/movement therapy, yoga, anatomy and movement. Through her extensive writings, teaching and multidisciplinary approach to practice, Laurice expands the boundaries of the practice of DMT and bridges the gaps with these other disciplines.

Congratulations and thank you for your contributions to the field of dance/movement therapy and the ADTA, Laurice!

The Relational Dance of Telehealth in Private Practice: Staying in the here and now in the digital landscape
Presenter: Meredith Casimiro (she/her), MS, LCAT, BC-DMT

The digital landscape has amplified barriers for dance/movement therapists and clients to stay
connected to the here-and-now and can create challenges in attunement on a body level within the
clinical session. This workshop will highlight the collaborative process of the relationship between
therapist and client via individual telehealth sessions, define the intersections of relational
integrative psychotherapy and dance/movement therapy, and describe case examples from one
dance/movement therapist’s experience of remaining attuned through embodied attending skills
within a private telehealth practice
